Be forewarned. This post is ridonkulously pic heavy. How can a review full of incredibly beautiful, dimensional, complex, and full out fabulous Fyrinnae product not be pic heavy? All that being said, even given the mass quantity of photos I have included in this post, I still did not manage to adequately capture the full, and shifting, beauty of these shades. To truly appreciate them you must witness them yourselves. Something I strongly recommend.
Arcane Magic: Mermaid Masquerade Loose Eye Shadow
Bright, rich, shimmering royal blue. Moved closer to light or at an angle, and it turns purple to pink, though still retaining hints of blue. I also detected a bit of an aqua tint to this when shifted to the light but the Arcane Magic effect is very subtle with this shade. It maintains its royal blue tone at all times and is an AMAZING blue.
Arcane Magic: Mystical Hedgehog Loose Eye Shadow
Appears as a vibrant, shimmering purple with a turquoise-green highlight at a distance, but changes to a warmer purple to pink at an angle or close to light. This is a very deep, intense purple. Again the Arcane Magic effect is more on the subtle side but the turquoise highlight is a really lovely effect that takes this beyond any ordinary purple eyeshadow. Like with Mermaid Masquerade I was unable to capture this effect on camera. 🙁
Arcane Magic: Sultry Samhain Loose Eye Shadow
Stunning metallic bright burgundy, gleaming and sparkling with a bit of lighter pink. Closer to light or at an angle, and it warms to pink to an orange-gold hue. Similar to Velvet Vampire, but much cooler and slightly more metallic. This is such an amazingly rich and vibrant shade. Absolutely stunning. It is the most gorgeous and intense shade of burgundy with the added bonus of shifting to a fiery hue when angled the right way to the light.
Arcane Magic: Velveteen Werewolf Loose Eye Shadow
Complex whirl of lime green and gold on a shimmering brown base, graced with a touch of lavender sparkle. Moved close to light or at an angle, and the shadow warms to hues of peach and pink on rusty brown. This is a very complex, shimmering neutral that is incredibly versatile. It shifts colours not only in relation to the angle of the light but also with the shades you choose to pair it with. The strongest colours I see coming through are the pinky brown and green brown. The lavender sparkle is such a great touch!
Bonfire Spirits Loose Eye Shadow
Smoldering warm red and a touch of chartreuse mingle in a deep base. Almost an Arcane, as the green appears blue at angle or with light changes, but not by much. Somewhat of a “vampy” earthtone.
Ethereal Éire Loose Eye Shadow
Varying hues of gold, blue, and green create a shade that appears silvery sage, but light reflects different hues. A versatile shadow, but not boring. Graced with a sprinkle of pale green sparkle. Named in honor of our chemist, who hails from the island. This is one of my absolute favourites from the collection. It is complex but in a subtle way. The result is the most amazing and unique shade of pale green that I do not think I will be able to stop wearing. It pairs beautifully with Velveteen Werewolf as you will see in an upcoming FOTD post.
Mischievous Sidhe Loose Eye Shadow
Brilliant, glittering, shining, semi-metallic gold. Yellow and rich like real 24 karat, with no beige or bronze hues. Appears to be a mustard shade in the jar, but is metallic and sparkling once applied. Sidhe is pronounced “shee”. I only ordered a mini size of this shade as yellow gold isn’t a shade I wear often. I was in need of one in my collection though. If you love golds this is a rich, metallic shade that won’t disappoint.
Witchy Woodland Creatures Loose Eye Shadow
Glimmering, multi-faceted cocoa taupe. Shades of copper and silver, with hints of pink, gold, and green shimmer on a neutral taupe-brown base make this shadow suitable for a wide range of skintones. This is an absolutely stunning taupe eyeshadow. Who doesn’t love taupe?!
Lip Lustre: Ghost’s Kiss
Slightly shimmery “nude” with hues of copper and pink. Semi-transparent. Neither overly warm or cool, so it’s suitable for a wide range of skintones. This is my first experience with Fyrinnae’s Lip Lustres. I can guarantee you it won’t be my last. It is a very unique product. Completely 100% non sticky. It is not a gloss but applies with almost a dry feel yet I do not find it to be drying in the least. It offers excellent coverage and very comfortable wear. It is not super long wearing, at least not in this shade, but it does wear off evenly in my experience with Ghost’s Kiss. I am excited to try some of the wilder shades of Lip Lustre.
The Fyrinnae Samhain collection for 2012 is an outstanding addition to the Fyrinnae lineup. That is the great thing about Fyrinnae. They do not do limited edition collections. When new shades are released as part of a collection they are there to stay. Samhain offers a beautiful assortment of both neutrals and more fun shades. You can find Fyrinnae at Fyrinnae.com. The Lip Lustres are $7 and the eyeshadows are $2.25 for a mini and $6.25-$6.80 for a full sized version. This is actually my first time ordering any full sized shadows as the minis are already so generous. The full sized ones are incredibly generous. They are practically overflowing. There would be no way for them to include more product in those pots for you.
My love for Fyrinnae knows no bounds. I am trying vehemently to get more accustomed to using loose eyeshadows. I have started storing them differently so they are more accessible to me. It has been a shame that I have barely touched my collection of over 100 Fyrinnae shades simply because I have not gotten out of the habit of reaching for my pressed eyeshadows first. I am determined to get ALL of my Fyrinnae eyeshadows swatched for you. It will be so nice to have a comprehensive post of swatches of almost all of the Fyrinnae shades for not only my beautiful readers, but also as a resource for myself so I remember all the pretty shades I have at my fingertips!
