Get ready ladies! Dior is finally releasing their first liquid lipstick. The Dior Rouge Liquid Lip Stain ($43 CAD) is an absolutely beautiful formula. It’s not the full on matte type of liquid lip formula we see so much of lately. You can skip the dry, lip puckering experience and enjoy soft matte colour with full vibrant colour thanks to the featherweight pigments in the new Dior Rouge Liquid Lip Stains.
The formula is so light and glides on the lips like silk but with full colour coverage. There are 29 shades available in matte, satin, and metallic finishes. The shades range from stunning nudes to bold vampy hues and reds, and even a matte black and cyber silver!
The matte shades have 2-7% pigments. The satin shades have 1-3% pigments and 4-7% iridescence. The metallic shades are 17-20% iridescence. Whoa!
The formula features a combination of wax, moisturizing oils, and setting agents. They set to a very long wearing finish. You will get a small amount of transfer in the very beginning but then they stay put for hours on end while still maintaining complete comfort. I love, love, love this formula. The formula does seem to vary a bit between finishes and shades though so buyer beware.
There are some really interesting facts about this formula that help explain the beauty in the texture and feel of this liquid lip colour. The formula includes powder coated with silicon resin which is responsible for the smooth glide. Synthetic mineral wax combined with a gelling agent give the formula it’s creamy texture. Lastly a combination of 4 oils gives the Rouge Dior Liquid Lip Stain it’s nourishing lip care features and weightless feel.
The applicator has a dip in the tip that is a reservoir that holds the perfect amount of product for a full application.

Dior Rouge Liquid Lip Stain in Impulsive Matte, Delicate Satin, Rock ‘n’ Metal, Savage Matte and Dior Double Rouge in Dressed to Kill, Poison Purple
I have four shades:
- 362 Impulsive Matte – this is the only shade that didn’t work for me. I found it difficult to apply evenly and it had a bit of a chalky effect. This is pretty common though with pale bright shades like this. I wouldn’t recommend this particular shade.
- 427 Delicate Satin – this was an immediate favorite. This nude beige is absolutely gorgeous. The subtle satin finish is so incredibly flattering.
- 751 – Rock ‘n’ Metal – this shade is so fun! This bold deep metallic copper is a real attention getter. Of course with the metallic finish it will be most flattering on those with smooth lips. Not so much me at the moment.
- 797 Savage Matte – oh boy! Send me some bold juju please because this shade is STUNNING and I want to have the nerve to wear it. It is breathtaking and so comfortable! This may have to be my new fall “it” shade!
As if it wasn’t enough that Dior was releasing a whole new liquid lipstick formula they are also releasing a new lipstick formula. The Rouge Dior Double Rouge Lipstick ($43 CAD).
When I first saw these lipsticks I thought “oh cool, but kinda gimmicky”, but you know what, I actually think these are really great. The dual-textured lipsticks features a metallic core surrounded by a matte ring. When applied on the lips they blend together to create a beautiful finish and illusion of fullness. The two shades I have are quite bold but there are also a variety of nudes and brights in the 8 shade range as well. They have the beautiful smooth, creamy luxe finish of the Rouge Dior Lipsticks.
Are you excited about these new launches from Dior? They will be hitting Dior counters and retailers in September. The Double Rouge Lipsticks will not be available at Sephora.
These are gorgeous! Savage matte suits you well. How much fragrance do these have? Nothing I hate more than perfumed and/or flavored lip products.
Thanks Tatiana! They do have the a subtle Dior floral fragrance if you sniff the wand. No flavor at all. You don’t notice the scent once it’s applied because it’s very subtle.
Those look amazing. Rock N Metal is a unique colour. I’ll have to try it out at my local Sephora if they get it in to see if they work for me.
