My preferred method of foundation application has been the beautyblender Sponge for as long as I can remember. I’ve raved about it on this blog more times than I can count, and it’s all I use in my professional work for foundation application on clients. Because of my devotion to the beautyblender I was incredibly excited to hear that beautyblender had released a foundation. The beautyblender BOUNCE Foundation ($40 USD) just has to be amazing right?
I was initially nervous when I heard that the formula was matte. Matte formulas are my least favorite as I have dry skin. I was sad they weren’t releasing a more radiant finish foundation but I was still hopeful when I read the description of the formula. It is formulated to be matte and full-coverage while still looking like skin and having a weightless feel. It is a whipped liquid formula using their first to market high-speed HyperWhip™ process. The whisked, light as air texture of the silky smooth formula is meant to offer exceptional blendability. Especially when paired with the blending genius of the BeautyBlender sponge.
The offers a velveteen matte finish with a multidimensional effect so that your skin looks natural and nevery cakey or chalky. It’s supposed to be long-wearing (up to 24 hours which seems a little silly).
Bounce is infused with hyaluronic acid and antioxidant-rich white birch extract so I was hopeful that my dry skin could still look flattering while wearing the matte formula.
I am so happy to report that I do indeed love this foundation! The finish is a soft matte and it doesn’t accentuate my dryness at all which I find a small miracle. I struggle with more foundations sucking the life out of my skin throughout the day so that even if they don’t accentuate dryness initially they will over time. With Bounce the finish remains flattering. It lasts longer on my chin and nose (which seem to eat most foundations through the day) than most other foundations I have tried. Even around my nose which almost immediately looks dry and red again fairly quickly in the day stays looking flawless for hours with the Bounce foundation.
The coverage is indeed a solid medium to full coverage and conceals all of my redness and discoloration with ease. It does layer well for any trouble areas you may have but I rarely find the need to go back in with more product.
The packaging is very unique. It is solid heavy packaging and features a lockable pump which I think is fabulous! The rectangular shape doesn’t make it the easiest for storing on my vanity in my foundation storage area but it is really handy for just throwing in a drawer! It has a special reservoir which the pump nozzle angles down towards for using with your beautyblender sponge but I prefer to just apply the product directly to the sponge or the back of my hand.
There is an impressive shade range from light to deep with cool, neutral and warm undertones. I have the lightest neutral shades 1.10 and 1.40.
1.40 is what I am wearing in this post and is a good match while I am still hanging onto my summer colour. Soon I will have to switch to 1.10 or a blend of the two shades.
The formula vegan and cruelty-free and formulated without parabens, phthalates, oils or sulfates.
