Sometimes makeup lovers, especially when they are just starting out, are so infatuated by the wonderland of gorgeous colours and finishes of cosmetics that they forget the importance of having the right tools. Heck some people don’t even realize the difference that having quality makeup brushes can make in their application and results.
I’ve been wanting to post about this wonderful brush set for a very long time. I’d intended to post a very in depth review comparing the brushes to similar ones from other manufactures but I just haven’t had the time. Since the Sonia Roselli Makeup Brush Book makes such an impressive holiday gift I wanted to share the review now without any further delay.
The Brush Book itself is made of patent leather and has 6 brush slots on the inner front cover, 8 slots on the front side of the inner flap, 9 slots on the back side of the inner flap, and 6 slots on the back cover.
There are also flaps to cover and protect your brushes while inside the book. There is a smooth zipper closure of good quality with a charm with the Sonia Roselli initials.
The full Sonia Roselli Makeup Brush Book retails for $590. It has gone on sale for a substantial discount several times in the past. The set includes 29 brushes in total. Yes TWENTY NINE! Now $590 US for the full set seems like a large sum to swallow but with 29 brushes in the set that works out to only $18.66 a brush. If you are familiar with mid to high end makeup brushes at all then you know that’s a great price. Keep in mind that is lumping small detail brushes and large face brushes in together so when you think of the price of large scale brushes your money is going far. You can also purchase the brush book separately for $49 US.
The brushes have natural hair for the most part with a few brushes mostly designed for use with cream products having synthetic bristles. The brushes are fairly soft and I’ve had only minimal shedding with a select few of the brushes included.
The brushes included are listed below in the order they are seen in the photographs below.

What I love about this set is not just the quality of the brushes, which is superb, but also the attention to detail. You can tell a real makeup artist was responsible for creating this brush line because there are so many detail and specialty brushes included. It is a dream come true and has almost everything you could ever desire to work on yourself and clients alike. I find it so hard to find good, well designed, detail oriented brushes and this set offers them in abundance. The set also takes into account things like varying eye shapes and sizes offering things like two sizes of crease blending brushes and multiple brow and liner options. I really can’t say enough about how well executed this set is. My only complaint could be that it is rather large and bulky but hey, we are keeping 29 amazing brushes safe and sound and organized in a beautiful case. How can we complain about that? Oh, and if I could wish for utter perfection, if the set included a brush comparable in size and performance to the MAC 239 I would be even more elated.
The Sonia Roselli Makeup Brush Book website is where you can purchase this amazing set and I encourage you to visit because the website offers some of the best product photography I’ve seen. You can see the full book and each individual brush in crystal clear detail. The website is divided into a number of pages giving in depth info on the set itself as well as all the individual brushes included. There are also tips and tricks for each brush. You can also purchase her brushes individually.
If you haven’t already discovered Sonia’s blog Glossible via one of her thought provoking, and sometimes controversial, viral posts then I highly recommend checking it out. It’s good for a great, and informative, read as well as a good laugh.
