The limited edition Paul & Joe Come Sail Away Summer 2016 Collection is all about relaxed beaches and nautical themes. One of the things that really makes the Parisian born brand stand out, aside from their quality products, is their absolutely adorable packaging. Let’s take a look at a couple of pieces from the collection.
The Paul & Joe Silky Pressed Powder in Compact ($48 CAD) is a beautifully presented pressed translucent powder that comes with a cute puff and a lovely drawstring satin pouch. The lid of the compact is adorned with a quirky retro image of a woman in a bathing suit sitting on what I think is supposed to be a beach ball. There is a playing card kind of theme going on with fun yellow polka dots, which are also found on the plush poof. The powder is very soft and silky and is formulated with nourishing ingredients to ensure your skin never looks dry, even while keeping shine at bay and blurring pores.
There are two shades available:
- 01 (shown) is a pale pink to improve the complexion and emphasize clarity.
- 02 is a beige to match and enhance any skin tone.
This is such a cute compact to pull out of your handbag for touch ups!
The Paul & Joe Face & Eye Colour Palette ($36 CAD) is a palette of three shades that are formulated for use on both the eyes and cheeks. The powders are infused with nourishing skin softening agents including Orange Flower Water, White Lily Extract, Jojoba Seed Oil, Rosemary extract, and Rose Canina Fruit Extract. The beach themed cardboard packaging is sleek and slim and reveals the pans in the shape of a boat’s sails. There are three shade combinations available in the collection:
- Sunshine & Sand (001) – A palette of nude retro shades that look best on the beach, shining under the bright summer sun.
- Coral Garden (002) – (shown) A palette of cheery coral shades reminiscent of colourful coral reefs.
- Come Sail Away (003) – A palette of lively and dynamic summer shades, perfect for sailing the day away.
The shades have lovely pigmentation and this particular palette has one subtle shimmer finish, one satin, and one matte.
I always find the lipsticks to be the cutest part of the Paul & Joe Collections. The lipstick refills come separately from the decorative lipstick holders/cases. That way you can put your favourite lipstick shades in you fave case of the moment. I don’t have any of the summer ones to show you but they are beautiful and sophisticated options this season. The lipstick refills themselves again incorporate a kitty theme and for summer it is in the cutest way I have ever seen them do it. The lipsticks are formulated using a unique, Japanese candy-making technique called Kintaro- ame, which consists of two separate tubes, one columnar and one cat-shaped, to ensure the cat faces remain visible until the lipstick is used up. The outer lipstick is transparent, formulated with a generous amount of oils such as Cocoa Seed Butter, Jojoba Seed Oil and Lavander Oil to nourish lips and help the inner colour adhere while the inner cat shaped portion offers the colour. They are so dang cute!
