When I was approached with the opportunity to experience Teosyal dermal fillers with one of Toronto’s most reputable plastic surgeons, Dr. Cory Torgerson, I was ecstatic. I’m no spring chicken anymore and I’ve been noticing the loss of volume in my face. Having such a passion for makeup and beauty, it can be quite disheartening to discover that your canvas is changing in a less than positive way. I immediately said yes to the opportunity. Fast forward a few weeks when my appointment was on the horizon and my excitement turned to fear. I had been so confident in my decision that the concerns I had remained mute until the time was at hand. Thank goodness for the consultation!
When I arrived at Dr. Torgerson’s office I was quite early and took the opportunity to relax and observe my surroundings. I was impressed by the professional and beautiful decor of the office but even more so by the staff. Everyone I encountered was so friendly. More importantly, through observing them interacting with one another and their clients, it was obvious they were happy and enjoyed their jobs. I witnessed several customers, new and repeat, interacting with Dr. Torgerson and his team, and it was like watching a big happy family. Everyone was cheerful and relaxed and I couldn’t help but be put at ease about the experience I was about to undertake.
Before my consultation I had a SilkPeel DermalInfusion Facial. The treatment uses a SilkPeel diamond treatment head handpiece to remove the top-most portion of the epidermis called the stratum corneum. SilkPeel Pro-Infusion solutions are simultaneously infused into the viable epidermis under pneumatic pressure. I decided to go with the Hydrate Pro-Infusion treatment that contains hyaluronic acid, aloe, and chamomile to smooth, hydrate, and calm the skin. The treatment feels like a cat licking your face. A little odd at first but once you are used to the sensation it is very relaxing and not at all uncomfortable. It has been 2 weeks and my skin still glows and feels baby smooth. It did wonders improving the condition of my skin in areas that were ravaged by my winter dry skin, like around my nose and chin. I would have another SilkPeel facial in a heartbeat!
When I met with Dr. Cory Torgerson I told him my concerns about not wanting to look overdone. Many people have a fear of having a dermal filler treatment because we have witnessed so many examples of fillers gone wrong in the media. Overdone, unnatural, and unflattering. Dr. Torgerson assured me that he would not make me look like I walked off the cast of Housewives. He assured me that he would only go for a very natural result. I was also concerned with how the product would feel. Would it feel strange to the touch? What if I wasn’t comfortable with how it looked and felt. I was happy to discover that if I wasn’t pleased it would be as simple as having the product dissolved to go back to my natural state. He made me feel completely at ease and after having researched before and after photos, and seeing his happy clients in his office, I was confident moving forward. Especially when I was told the whole process would take only about 15 minutes.
The type of dermal filler that was used for my treatment is called Teosyal. Teosyal is a full range of injectable dermal fillers made of biodegradeable hyaluronic acid hailing from Switzerland and it is the #1 Dermal Filler in Europe. Hyaluronic Acid is a natural component in our skin and that is one of the reasons such natural results can be achieved with Teosyal. It integrates naturally into your tissue allowing for a natural feel, look, and movement. Having filler options available in which the consistency and formulation is targeted specifically to the area being addressed means the most natural and effective results are possible. Take for instance the Teosyal Redensity II used under my eyes. It’s the only filler of it’s kind designed specifically for the tear trough area under the eyes to address fine lines, dark circles, and deep hollows. It combines hyaluronic acid and a dermo-restructing complex of vitamins and amino acids.
On Dr. Torgenson’s recommendation we went ahead with a subtle treatment to the areas under my eyes, on the front of my cheeks, and to my nasolabial folds. The treatment wasn’t painful at all. The Teosyal syringes contain lidocaine to help numb any pain and the injections merely felt a bit uncomfortable. Dr. Torgerson is very gentle. I had only minor swelling after my treatment with a bit of tenderness. Teosyal is the purest filler on the market which I believe is why I experienced so little swelling. I only experienced bruising at two of my injection sites which faded within a week. Following the treatment there were some areas that felt more firm to the touch but after about a week the filler integrated with my skin and now feels totally natural. Dr. Torgerson is a true artist in the way he uses multiple products to blend and sculpt the fillers into your skin for naturally contoured results.
For my session he used:
- 2 syringes of Teosyal Ultimate on the cheeks..
- 1 Syringe of Teosyal Global on the nasolabial folds..
- 1 Syringe of TeosyalRedensity II under the eyes.
Now for the Before and After photos. (Please excuse the sunglasses dents in the after pics.) You can see how incredibly natural the effect is. Yet it has made such a difference. My absolute favourite part has been how much fun it is to apply blush and highlighter during my makeup routine now. Before applying blush was always a tad awkward, and highlighter even more so, because I was lacking any of the plumpness of youth in my cheeks. Now I am blush and highlighter obsessed! I haven’t had a single person in my life notice that I had something done. If that’s not a testament to just how natural the results can be than I don’t know what is!
The Teosyal injections I had are valued around $2,600. That is quite an investment but the Teosyal fillers can last anywhere from 6-18 months depending on the area. Because Teosyal fillers have a cumulative effect when it is time for a touch up less product will be required than your initial session. Now that I have experienced just how easy the whole process is, my fear of the unknown is no longer a factor, and I am confident that the results can be completely natural looking, I wouldn’t hesitate to repeat the experience.
