The new MAKE UP FOR EVER Water Blend Foundation ($43 US/$54 CAD) is the perfect foundation for someone looking for sheer coverage with a gorgeous skin like finish. The formula is 80% pro-vitamin B5 infused water to hydrate the skin. It is also formulated with glycerine and mango butter to maintain hydration levels throughout the day.
The water gel formula is incredibly light and the formula is waterproof and transfer proof. This is what makes it perfect for use on the body as well as the face.
The packaging is very luxe with a frosted glass bottle and metal cap. It also has a pump.
The MAKE UP FOR EVER Face & Body Foundation was one of my favorite foundations. This new Water Blend Face & Body Foundation is the replacement for that now discontinued formula. Many of you, who used the previous formula, may be wondering how this compares. The new Water Blend formula is very, very similar. It has the same water-gel texture that needs to be vigorously shaken prior to application. It is a different formula though for sure. The scent is more subtle than the previous incarnation. I also find the coverage to be even sheerer than original Face & Body formula. While both formulas are buildable I find this newer one doesn’t build up quite as well coverage wise. It is still one of the most natural looking foundations I’ve ever used.
The new shade range is more comprehensive with the Water Blend formula with 20 shades available. There are even more options for fair skin. Shown below are shades R210 and R250. R210 is described as pink alabaster and R250 as nude beige. I would have expected, given the shade name and description, that R250 would be much deeper but it was actually almost as light as R210.
I have quite a bit of a tan at the moment so I used shade R250 which even then is a bit light for me. Imagine that! Shown below is two coats (approximately 5 pumps). You can see that it did a good job of evening out my skin tone while still letting my freckles show through. It did a respectable job of eliminating the redness around my nose as well. I have a swollen eye from allergies in these pics, and my hair is still wet, so please forgive how wonky I look!
Did you use the original MAKE UP FOR EVER Face & Body Foundation? Have you tried the new Water Blend Foundation? What are your thoughts?
