MAKE UP FOR EVER has reformulated their already amazing Artist Shadows. The new MAKE UP FOR EVER Artist Color Shadows features a formula with atomized pigments and water technology to offer rich pigmentation. The inclusion of oil binders and synthetic mica ensures optimum blendability while treated pigments and binders offer 12 hour wear.
The Artist Color Shadows are available in an astounding 121 shades in five finishes:
- Matte (M)
- Satin (S)
- Iridescent (I)
- Metallic (ME)
- Diamond (D)
What I absolutely love about the MAKE UP FOR EVER shadows is that they are sold as individual pans. While the old formulation featured large round pans, these new more compact rectangular shaped pans I find much more sleek and versatile. The MAKE UP FOR EVER Customizable Palettes are fantastic. They are sturdy metal palettes with a secure closure and lovely mirror on the quad and 6 pan palettes. The palettes also work with the MAKE UP FOR EVER Face Color (blushes, highlighters, and contour) creating and incredibly flexible system. The eyeshadows are basically half the size of the the face products meaning you can mix and match to your desire. In terms of eyeshadow you can purchase palettes to house a one, two, three, four, or six shadows. You can create any color combination you desire. With a range of 121 shades there is a rainbow of neutrals and colorful hues to choose from. The prices for the palettes paired with the shadows are as follows:
- Single – 1 refill + 1 palette ($24 CAD)
- Duo – 2 refills + 1 palette ($37/value of $46)
- Trio – 3 refills + 1 palette ($50/value of $68)
- Quad – 4 refills + 1 palette ($63/value of $90)
- 6 Palette – 6 refills + 1 palette ($77/value of $134)
I love that I can mix and match my shadows and build upon my collection at any time. I think this is a genius way to offer beauty products rather than prearranged palettes that often include shades that you don’t need or want. If you have a shadow you burn through more quickly than others you can easily replace it.
The formula of these shadows is really lovely to work with. The mattes are beautiful. I find they are just as pigmented and blendable as the previous formula. The satin, iridescent, metallic, and diamond shadows are all gorgeous. There is some fallout with the more sparkly metallic and diamond shadows so just ensure you tap off your brush or do your eye makeup first when opting for those. The result is worth it!
The shades I have are:
- M500 – Ivory
- M650 – Cookie
- M608 – Red Brown
- I648 – Golden Fawn
- ME728 – Copper Red
- ME612 – Silver Brown
- I528 – Pearl
- S814 – Light Rosewood
- D826 – Fig
There is also a new MAKE UP FOR EVER Step 1: Skin Equalizer Eye & Lip Primer ($23 US). I have only played with this a little bit but so far I’m loving it.
Are you excited for this new release from MAKE UP FOR EVER? Are you loving the switch to a square pan shape? I am!
