Well my MAC Flamingo Park Collection haul has arrived and I am beyond pleased with my selections. I have already reviewed the MAC Let’s Be Friends Blush and Have Your Cake Lipstick if you would like to check out those reviews.
I was completely smitten with all the gorgeous shades of pink in this collection and decided on ordering the softer shades. I chose the Beauty Powder in Pearl Blossom ($22 US/$26 US). the satin blush What I Fancy, the matte blush Spring Flock ($22 US/$26 CAD), and the Cremesheen lipstick in Long Legged & Fabulous ($17 US/$20 CAD).
I am really pleased with all my selections. I was at first concerned that Pearl Blossom would be too similar to one of my favorite pink toned highlighters, the MAC Beauty Powder in Play it Proper, but I was pleased to discover that Pearl Blossom is a deeper pink and has a slightly stronger sheen. The texture of the Pearl Blossom is beautiful. Smooth, not powdery, and it yields a soft natural sheen. Exactly the kind of beautiful finish that is behind my love for the MAC Beauty Powders.
What I Fancy and Spring Flock are both stunning blush options for spring and summer. Light and bright shades that brighten the complexion without any chalkiness. What I Fancy is a soft bright apricot pink in a satin finish. Spring Flock is a light bright coral in a satin finish. A little deeper and more orange toned that What I Fancy. Spring Flock was listed in the press material as a satin finish but my blush is labelled as a matte finish. It is indeed a satin finish on the skin. I really love the MAC satin finish blushes as they bring a healthy radiance to the skin without any shimmer. Just a natural skin like glow.
I think I was most excited about ordering Long Legged & Fabulous Lipstick. Being fair I find most lip colours pull very dark on me so I am always hunting for soft shades that are pale, without looking chalky, and maintain their hue. Long Legged & Fabulous lived up to my high hopes. It is such a pretty cool pale pink that doesn’t pull warm and peachy on my skin tone. I was worried at first as it appears to be a warmer shade in the tube but it applies as a true cool baby pink. It is a MAC Cremesheen finish so it offers nice colour coverage while still maintaining a bit of a translucency that keeps it from looking too garish in such a pale shade. It does settle a small amount in lip lines but not enough to be noticeable from a normal viewing distance. I am so excited to start using this shade with some smokey eye looks.
