The Guerlain Petrouchka Palette ($95 CAD/$90 US) is an eye and blush palette that is stunning both inside and out. Lets start with that gorgeous packaging.
The dual level compact manages to stay slim. About double the depth of a standard Guerlain palette but with a tapered bottom. The finish of the whole compact is a slightly brushed gold with Guerlain engraved on the front of the palette at the bottom.
At the centre is a black centre tray that houses the five eyeshadows. The lid is magnetized to this layer. The bottom of the palette houses the four blushes and this part of the palette snaps into the bottom of the centre black tray that contains the eyeshadows. All in all it is very secure packaging.
There is a beautiful elastic red bow around the palette that can be removed and used as a hair accessory or bracelet. The palette comes with a red trimmed black velvet pouch with a sponge tip applicator and red bristled small blush brush that nestle in pockets in the pouch.
The eyeshadow shades are:
- Champagne
- Sand
- Gold
- Copper
- Iridescent Brown
The two lighter shades in the palette have a bit lighter (yet still good) pigmentation and the three deeper shades have excellent pigmentation. The shades are rich, vibrant, and glow with a luminous shimmer that isn’t glittery. The effect on the eyes is beautiful. I am head over heals for this palette. It looks incredible with blue eyes.
The four blush shades on the lower level are:
Nude Pink | Rosewood
Brown | Coral
I had read some other reviews that stated that some of the blush shades were less than stellar but I was delighted to discover that all four shades in my palette performed beautifully. The two smaller shades on the left have a subtle shimmer and a slightly drier texture than the larger matte shades but they all had great pigmentation and applied smoothly. Maybe there is some variation between palettes?
I think this palette makes a luxurious and impressive gift (or splurge for yourself). What a great Sephora VIB sale steal! The website says they only have a few left so I’m know I’m not the only one thinking it. I know I’ll be reaching for mine often. It’s also very travel friendly given the variety of shades and sturdy yet compact packaging. You can expand your look options by incorporating some of the blush shades into you eye look.
