I was really enamoured with the YSL Rouge Volupte Perle in Milky Pink that I got back in February. I wore it quite a bit through the spring and summer. On a whim I decided to pick up some more fall appropriate shades in the formula. Ever a sucker for plums the first shade I will share with you is 109 Brazen Plum.
One of the most enticing features of these lipsticks is the exquisite packaging. The shade of the lipstick is easily identified beneath the embossed YSL logo. Shimmer and all. I absolutely adore this packaging. I almost feel embarrassed at the level of luxury exuded when I whip this baby out of my handbag.
Brazen Plum may look Brazen in the tube but on the lips the more sheer texture of the Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte Perle formula make this shade incredibly wearable.
The ultra fine shimmer gives a lush pearl glow to the lips without looking shimmery.
The texture of the Rouge Volupte Perle lipsticks is very light with almost a wet feel. This makes them very comfortable to wear while at the same time means shorter wear time. They are quite strongly scented which is something I normally steer clear of but with this formula and scent I don’t seem to find it troublesome. If you haven’t explored the YSL Rouge Volupte Perle formula yet I do recommend trying it and starting with a light to medium intensity shade to see how it works for you. I love how moisturizing these lipsticks are. It feels like I’m applying a luxe lip balm without the waxy feel.
You can find Yves Saint Laurent in Canada at Holt Renfew. In the US at Neiman Marcus and Barneys New York. Both the US and Canada at Sephora.
