This is the only Yves Saint Laurent product I own a the moment. I’d tried a couple of their raved about Rouge Volupte lipsticks in the past and really didn’t care for them. I found them heavy on the lips with way too much slip. I’m not a fan of too much slip in my lipsticks. I like lipsticks to adhere well to my lips with good coverage and not feel overly creamy. You of course may be looking for something completely different 😉
I really like the formula of the YSL Rouge Pur Couture lipstick, at least judging from this shade. I think several of the new ones being released with their summer collection look beautiful so I may just have to try out another! One thing that would keep me from buying more is that I really dislike the packaging. I find it large, clunky and I don’t like the gold finish that smudged, scratched and scuffed up so easily. I only carry this in a pocket compartment in my purse once and a while and it is already quite mucked up.
This shade is a lovely medium rose shade that to me has a bit of a plum twist. It appears far more intense against my fair skin tone that it will likely look on most. My pale, cool-neutral skin tends to make most lipsticks look darker and more vibrant than on most. It has a bit of subtle glossy sheen to it and I love toning it down a bit with different glosses on top.
I apologize for the horrendous state of my sad nails that I chewed all of last week 🙁
