I am so excited to be able to share with you so many amazing new scents that are perfect for summer. Many of these are actually going to be year round favourites for me. I love discovering new scents!

These are in no particular order. Aside from the first scent which is my hands down favourite. And what a surprise that was!

The newMugler Angel Muse Eau de Parfum ($78 CAD/30ml) is, of course, a gourmand scent. This fragrance is touted as being the first gourmand vetiver for women. Vetiver is one of my absolute favourite notes so it is no surprise this is my current favourite scent. The blend of gourmand vetiver and creamy hazelnut smells intoxicatingly delicious. I’m not usually a gourmand fan but this scent is so elegant and being a woody gourmand it is more my style. The bottle is described as being a cosmic pebble revealing the beautiful rosy shade of the fragrance within. I highly recommend checking this fragrance out, even if you think you won’t like a gourmand scent. Muse lasts incredibly well for me and I continue to enjoy it more and more throughout the day.

I have quite a little Guerlain Aqua Allegoria collection and the new Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Pera Granita ($75 CAD/75ml) is a welcome addition. Pera Granita translates to Pear Sorbet. This is a fresh citrus fruity floral. Top notes are grapefruit, bergamot, lemon. Heart notes are orange blossom, osmanthus, pear. Rounded out by base notes of moss, white musk and cedarwood. This is such a bright, cheerful fragrance and I can’t help but love the soft pink hue of the juice. My fragrance explorations this season have lead to my discovery of my love of grapefruit and pear as a fragrance notes. They appear together or individually in many of the scents I’ve fallen in love with for summer.

Lanvin Éclat de Fleurs ($105 US/100ml) is one of the most beautifully presented perfumes I’ve seen. It came in the loveliest little display case. I am a sucker for florals and Éclat de Fleurs is a beautiful one. I’ve discussed my love of (and my husband’s distaste for) jasmine in other posts. This white floral includes a top note of pear, middle notes of jasmine, rose and freesia and base notes of white musk and sandalwood. This is a feminine floral with a touch of fruitiness. The details on the bottle are just beautiful.

Black Opium EDP is one of my go to, favourite scents. I absolutely adore it. So when I discovered this new incarnation I was of course very excited. Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium Nuit Blanche ($100 CAD/50ml) is a little bit softer and fresher than the original while still maintaining the delectable sexiness. It’s the kind of scent that has me huffing my wrists all day long. I am hard pressed to decide which I prefer as they do differ quite a bit. Top notes are Rice and Bourbon pepper. Heart notes Orange Blossom and Coffee. Base notes of Vanilla and Sandalwood. The bottle is very similar to the original but with a rose gold toned cap and white sparkle on the black bottle as opposed to black.
Marc Jacobs has released limited edition Blush versions of their Daisy, Daisy Eau so Fresh, and Daisy Dream fragrances. First of all I love the packaging. I am already a fan of the playful Daisy packaging and the fact these new Blush versions are pink is just icing on the cake. I really like all of these new Blush versions. I think I would probably have to pick Dream Blush as my fave of the three.

Marc Jacobs Daisy Blush ($90 CAD/50 ml) is an absolutely lovely fresh pretty floral. With top notes of citrus bergamia, hesperidium fruits, banana; middle notes of freesia, honeysuckle, jasmine, citrus blossom, tuberose; and base notes of musk, cashmere woods, sandalwood you will smell like a fresh bouquet of flowers. Love this one.

Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau so Fresh ($100 CAD/75ml) is a fruity floral blend of Pink Grapefruit, Mandarin, Apple, Freesia, Rose, Lily of the Valley, Apricot Nectar, Cedarwood, Musks. I love the vibrant crisp pink grapefruit with the pretty floral freesia. Lovely.

Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream Blush ($90 CAD/50 ml) is a blend of many of my favourite notes including top notes of pink grapefruit, mandarin and apple blend with rose, lily of the valley and freesia, rounded out with a base of apricot nectar, cedarwood, and musk. It is a lush, airy scent that is perfect for a summer’s day. Fresh and beautiful.

Calvin Klein Eternity Summer Eau de Parfum($98 CAD/100ml) is a bright exotic woody fruity floral. It sits so nicely on the skin and makes for a lovely summer scent. It opens with accords of palm leaf, bergamot and pear blossom. The heart mixes frangipani flowers, jasmine and tuberose mist. The base includes warm and sensual musk, vanilla and blond woods. The frosted pastel gradient bottle is so dang pretty!

Calvin Klein Eternity Now Eau de Parfum ($78 CAD/100ml) is a romantic floral. It features top notes of Nectarine, Lychee, and Quince sorbet. Heart notes of Peony, Peach blossoms, and Neroli. Base notes of Cashmere, Ambrox, and Musk. It is fresh, feminine, and pretty. Perfect for new summer love.

Calvin Klein CK2 Eau de Toilette ($67 CAD/100ml) is the new unisex scent from Calvin Klein. It is a fresh woody scent and the inclusion of violet and vetiver pretty much guaranteed I would enjoy it. I don’t know if I’ve ever tried a scent with wasabi in it but I must say I quite like this. It is very clean and fresh. Top notes are Wasabi, Mandarin orange, and Violet leaf. Heart notes are Orris root and Rose. With base notes of Vetiver, Sandalwood, and Incense.

Calvin Klein CK One Summer Eau de Toilette ($ CAD/ml) sounds like the perfect summer cocktail. With notes of Frozen lime, Grapefruit, Melon white freesia, Cypress, Tequila accord, Coconut water, Crushed sugar, and Cedarwood you can almost picture these notes listed in a restaurant cocktail menu. It sounds like a scent I should love, because it sounds like something I would love to drink, but this overtly citrus scents like this don’t seem to sit well on my skin. The bottle is a beautiful tropical green and blue adorned with palm leaves.

Thierry Mugler Angel Eau Sucrée Eau de Toilette ($78 CAD/50 ml) is a sweet gourmand that is particularly suited to summer weather with it’s lighter, fresher take on the original. It features juicy accords of red berries sorbet on the top, sweet caramel and meringue cream in the heart, and patchouli and vanilla in the base. The sugar crusted star bottle is a beautiful addition to the Angel flanker family.

Armani Privé Fil Rouge Eau de Parfum is the newest luxury fragrance from Armani inspired by the Spring/Summer 2016 Armani couture collection. It opens with sharp, clean bergamot and aldehydes. The heart features the iconic ingredient in italian perfumery, Iris along with green angelica. The base includes white musk and ambergris. This exclusive fragrance was released in a numbered limited edition worldwide release of 1000 bottles. I have a very large tester, hence the stock photo of the stunning bottle. Once the sharpness of the opening settles and the scent warms to my skin this powdery warm floral is positively lovely.

Marc Jacobs Rain Splash Eau de Toilette ($65 CAD/100ml) is part of the return of four editions of the Marc Jacobs Splash collection. Rain, from 2006, is an aquatic scent reminiscent of a summer rain. It is a unisex scent with top notes of wet cut grass, wild strawberry, clementine, and cypress. Heart notes of tropical rain, passion flower, sunflower, and white orchid. And a base of amber, moss, teak, and musk. I’m not a fan of aquatic scents on myself but if you are this will be equally lovely on men and women.
If you love variety, or have always dreamed of creating your own signature scent, then you will love the next two options.
