I have heard lots of buzz about the Maybelline Baby Lips lip balms but for some reason I just had no interest in trying them. Maybe because they were a lip balm it just didn’t spark my interest. Well I finally tried them and now I get the hype. I am in LOVE with these fabulous balms!
Maybelline has just released a new limited edition collection of Baby Lips called Baby Lips Electro. When I went to the amazing Maybelline New York Fall/Winter 2013 Trends Event I received one of the new Electro Baby Lips in Pink Shock and it is an amazing, well pigmented, glossy hot pink balm. I also finally tried the original Baby Lips Balm in Pink Punch. It has found itself a permanent home in my handbag.
The main differences between the Baby Lips original and Electro (aside from the different colour choices) are the packaging and the lack of SPF in the new Electro version. The original Baby Lips offers SPF 20 protection which makes it perfect for summer. I always have it with me for easy, mirror free, fuss free, colour with great hydration and protection while at the cottage and on the go in the summer. As far as packaging goes the new Baby Lips Electro features sexy black tubes with bold coloured lettering as opposed to the varying colour on colour packaging of the original formula. Electro nurtures lips with aloe, honey, anti-oxidents, vitamins, and Centella Asiatica extract. I believe the original formula contains the same ingredients.
The Baby Lips balms are glossy and offer a nice amount of colour with an even application and light, yummy scent. I believe the scent varies with each flavour/shade of balm. The Baby Lips shades/flavours are:
Electro
- Berry Balm
- Minty Sheer (neon green but goes on clear)
- Pink Shock
- Oh! Orange
- Strike a Rose
Original
- Quenched
- Peppermint
- Cherry Me
- Grape Vine
- Pink Punch
- Peach Kiss
Baby Lips retail for $4.99 CAD and are available at mass market retailers and drugstores nationwide. The new Electro versions will be hitting stores in August 2013!
