When I first saw the Marc Jacobs Lightshow Luminizing Powder in 302 Close Up ($71 CAD) I didn’t think I was going to like it. It looked beautiful but so gold and shiny.
It comes in a large glossy black compact with chrome push button release and Marc Jacobs in tasteful raised lettering.
There is an inner plastic cover to protect the powder and keep the compact mess free. The compact comes in a fabric pouch to protect it from scratches.
Here is the powder as it comes with all the gold glittery overspray on the woven bands in tact. It is a beautiful presentation.
Here is the powder with the overspray removed. SO DIFFERENT! I went from not being sure about this powder to positively adoring it. There are three bands of neutral shades that blend together for a natural colour that will suit a wide array of skin tones.
Here I have swatched the shades individually from lightest to darkest, left to right, and the shades swirled together on the far right.
This powder is one of my favourite finishes. A lovely delicate sheen that gives your skin a luminous glow without sparkle and shimmer. You can apply heavily as a highlighter or apply lightly all over the face for a radiant complexion. The powder is very smooth and has a creamy feel. This is my first dabbling into the Marc Jacobs Beauty range and I am impressed, (and a little afraid of the ensuing lemmings). If I had to find something to complain about it would be that the compact is a bit unnecessarily large and of course the price tag is a little hard on the pocketbook.
The Marc Jacobs Lightshow Luminizing Powder in 302 Close Up is limited edition and available at Sephora.
