I have been holding out on you way too long. I can’t believe I didn’t post this review before now. I have been using the SensatioNail Invincible Gel Polish Starter Kit for a couple months now and I am so completely head over heals with this system. I will never be without my at home LED Gel Nails again. NEVER!
I will be honest. I was pretty hesitant about this. I didn’t really believe it would work for me. I have very thin, weak, flexible nails. I have had gel nails with tips done professionally many times. They don’t seem to last very long. I’m lucky to go a week before I have some serious lifting going on. I have also tried just a gel manicure once my nails grew a decent length under my tips, and that manicure didn’t even last a day before it started cracking. I thought that maybe I was forever doomed to have my short little stubbins. Well I have long nails now. I have actually had to file my nails down because they were getting too long! I did have one nail that I ended up breaking and I had to cut all my nails back down for the time being. I am confident though that thanks to the SensatioNail system I will have my long nails back again.
The system is really easy to use. I think the whole process takes maybe 15 mins and once you are done your nails are rock hard. You don’t have to baby them after your manicure worrying about dents and smudges. It comes with exclusive Pro 3060 LED Lamp was designed to safely and quickly flash-cure the SensatioNail Gel Polish, sealing in the color to a glossy, damage-proof, mirror-like finish. Their professional power light is a compact size to store easily. I find it very easy to use. You simply push a button and the light is pre-programmed to shut off after 60 seconds (with a chirp at 30 seconds, for accurate curing time.) so you don’t have to worry about over or under-curing. It comes with the Gel Cleanser for nail prep, Gel Primer to improve adhesion to the natural nail, Color Gel Polish (mine kit came with Pink Chiffon), and Gel Base & Top Coat. There is enough product for approximately 10 manicures.
They promote up to 2 weeks of wear. I usually get about 9 days before I decide to redo them. Once I get any kind of lifting or chipping I start picking. It’s just my bad habit. I imagine if I was better at leaving them alone I could go the full 2 weeks with ease. The set I received contains a pale pink. I’m not really keen on the colour but I just do the full gel manicure using it but then just treat it as a base. I will apply all my other regular nail polishes on top and since my nails are so hard thanks to the gel I get more than double the wear time out of my regular manicures. Plus it makes removing my regular manicures that I apply on top much easier as well! Just make sure you use an acetone free polish remover. I know some people sandwich a regular nail lacquer in between the gel system top and base coats for much longer wear but I prefer to just do it on top and switch it up as much as I want. Plus I find using the proper 4 coats (base, 2 colour, top) of the proper curing gel polish makes my nails that much stronger. I would think they would be weaker substituting a regular polish shade in.
So I know you are all wondering how my natural nails have faired underneath the gel manicure. Well I was truly surprised to discover that my natural nails have become much harder and stronger underneath the gel. And I mean MUCH stronger. I later heard from some other people that this is what most people experience.
I didn’t have any pure acetone for the removal process. My one complaint is that I wish this “complete” system came with the removal agent. For my first removal process I actually ended up using just standard acetone containing polish remover. I chewed my nails up pretty bad trying to get the gel nails off this way the first time. I find even using the pure acetone they are still difficult to remove and I do end up peeling off some of my natural nail with removal. But even with this happening, and with my subsequent buffing and filing to smooth out the surface of the nail again, my nails are still considerably harder, thicker, and stronger than they were before using the system. I can’t make sense of it but it has really been a drastic improvement.
I guess the next natural step will be to play with some more gel polish colours. I can tell you that I won’t be discontinuing use of SensatioNail anytime soon. I am loving my new long and strong nails!
