For Fall 2015 Kat Von D Beauty has released a new range of eyeshadows, the Kat Von D Metal Crush Eyeshadow ($21 US/$25 CAD). This new formula features her new Color-Soaked Concentrateā¢. This is a custom blended of powders that gives a high saturation of pigments and pearls in a long wearing formula. There are 11 shades available in a variety of intense and vibrant colours. Of course from Kat Von D you can expect some unique and adventurous shades.
The shades I have tested are:
- Paranoid (pearlescent cobalt) – This is an absolutely stunning bright cobalt blue. It has a beautiful pearlescent glow and great colour payoff. Just make sure to wear a primer or cream shadow underneath because it will stain your skin blue.
- Danzig (pearlescent violet) – Purple eyeshadows can be tricky but Danzig is one of the better ones I’ve tried. It has great pigmentation and is a stunning cool violet with pearlescent glow. It is just slightly less pigmented than Paranoid, Doce, and Thrasher but still performs beautifully on the eye.
- Doce (metallic copper) – This is an the most incredible copper eyeshadow. It is so pigmented and creamy and gorgeous. You would almost swear it was cream in the pan. It shifts slightly in the light to a more reddened copper.
- Thrasher (metallic gold) – This metallic antique gold is so insanely pigmented and buttery. Mmm heaven.
- Black No. 1 (iridescent gunmetal) – This eyeshadow is unlike the other 4 shades I tested. While still creamy it almost has a chunky texture and applies rather sheerly. This shade also has glitter that is prone to fallout. While the other 4 shades I tested are outstanding this one was rather disappointing.
The other available shades are:
- Synergy (metallic bronze)
- Static Age (metallic silver)
- Thunderstruck (metallic pearl)
- Raw Power (iridescent mahogany)
- Iggy (pearlescent mermaid green)
- Electric Warrior (pearlescent citron green)
The formula on these eyeshadows, with the exception of Black No. 1, is exactly how I like it. Creamy and intensely pigmented. They blend beautifully and last all day. You do not even need a primer to get intense colour payoff and vibrant colour.
