Hi Everyone! I am starting to get excited. IMATS Toronto is this weekend! This is actually my first IMATS. I know. Hard to believe huh? I had really wanted to go last year but couldn’t go because of other commitments. This year I made sure that it was planned to go as soon as the date was announced.

I think I am most looking forward to checking out brushes. I can’t wait to finally try out Hakuhodo! That was one of the main reasons I had wanted to attend last year. I also want to check out the new Revolution brushes from Royal & Langnickel and the bdellium brushes. I already have a set of bdellium brushes in my kit and I’m looking forward to picking up some more individual brushes from them.
Makeup wise I am itching to check out Eve Pearl. I have almost bought Eve Pearl products umpteen times online. For some reason I never follow through. Now I can finally see the products in person and make some decisions, and hopefully, purchases. I am also super stoked for OCC. I have never tried anything from OCC. Wha?! I know! Top of my list to check out are the Lip Tars, Concealers, and Loose Color Concentrates. Oh man my list is getting long isn’t it? Oh and Yaby! Another brand I have almost ordered online and was overwhelmed by the selections. I have a feeling I’ll be like a kid in a candy store there.
Another thing I want to check out is Frends Beauty. They are the creators of Stilazzi and they will have all their amazing Stilazzi cases there at a pro discount. Remember my incredible, purple case from my pro kit post? That’s a Stilazzi. They have many more options as well.
Another exciting thing is NARS being there. I hope/assume they are offering some sort of pro discount. The reason this is so exciting is because NARS does not offer a Canadian Pro Discount program. Edit (I’ve been told the products have been full priced in the past. Bummer. My question: Why are they even bothering to have a booth there then?)
I could keep going on and on but I am actually starting to scare myself! I should start trying to make a list so I am not kicking myself for forgetting things I really wanted to pick up. I fear the length of that list though. I need to win the lottery this week! Or maybe rob a bank…
Beyond the shopping there are also industry leaders from film, fashion, TV and theater that will offer classes, talks and live demonstrations. Emmy-winning Saturday Night Live key make-up artist Josh Turi will be one of three keynote speakers at IMATS. He’ll discuss his sometimes hectic work on the long-running live comedy show, as well as film.
Fashion star Lottie will be the show’s beautyfil keynote speaker. Her credits include Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Vanity Fair; she has also keyed fashion week shows for Stella McCartney and Versace Press. Her celebrity clients include Robert De Niro, Freida Pinto, and Leighton Meester.
Movie make-up artist Gordon Smith, whose credits include X-Men, X2, Platoon, Nixon and JFK, rounds out the keynote speaker list. He is a 30-year industry veteran and the subject of the exhibit X-Men Master: Gordon Smith, now showing at the TIFF Bell Lightbox, a gallery affiliated with the Toronto International Film Festival.
Are you going to be there? What is at the top of your wishlist?
