For anyone not familiar with Ellis Faas it is a brand renowned for their unique bullet style packaging and their “Ellis Red” lip colours. Created by the Netherlands born makeup artist Ellis Faas, it is a very unique collection of products with a very artistic approach. I am delighted to finally experience one of the notorious Ellis Reds, Milky Lips L201.
The Milky Lips Lip Colours come in the standard elongated bullet style click pen and has a short, firm brush tip. It does take a lot of clicking to get the product to begin dispensing but once you do that initial step your good to go. I’m not generally a fan of brush head lip products but this brush is short, flat, and firm allowing precise application. A little trick I came up with is to line your lips with the product left on the brush from your previous application before clicking and dispensing more product. The product left has dried up somewhat and is a small amount of product so it allows easy and precise lining of the lips. Once you’ve done that give the pen a few clicks to dispense more lipstick and apply away.
Milky Lips L201 is an intense blood red. It has a transparent formula but is very pigmented giving full coverage. You can also apply a smaller amount for more of a stain effect. The finish is glossy and the formula very comfortable to wear with no stickiness. The shade is incredibly flattering. I can see it suiting everyone. The beauty comes with a bit of a price though. This is a high maintenance lip colour. It does transfer and will continue to so the whole time you wear it as it doesn’t “set” in any fashion. I certainly wouldn’t recommend a make out session with this on or it will end up looking like a crime scene! Who makes out anymore anyways? Bleh! Anyways just be aware it will end up on your glass etc.. It does last fairly long as it’s quite pigmented. It can tend to fade somewhat unevenly so keep a mirror handy for touchups.
