My first experience with the Ellis Faas Creamy Eyes and Lights eye shadows was when I purchased the Ellis Faas Spring 2012 Set. Wow! Spring 2012? Was it that long ago. While I loved these products I have totally been neglecting them since the packaging lends them to being stored differently than the rest of my eyeshadows and the colours weren’t exactly everyday neutrals. Well the Creamy Eyes E107 Taupe ($36 US/$43 CAD) and Lights E303Bronze ($42 US/$50 CAD) are far more neutral and have rekindled my love for the formula and reminded me to dig the gorgeous E107 Lilac Taupe and E305 Lilac out of hiding!
Ellis Faas Lights in E303 Bronze is an absolutely breathtaking metallic bronze. It is intensely pigmented and can be sheered out for a glossier effect or applied to full opacity for a high impact look. I am always a high impact kinda gal so that is my favourite way to wear it. I love using E303 Bronze on my lid when doing a bronze smoky eye. I think it is probably one of my most complimented looks. Which reminds me… Time to post a look or tutorial on that! The Lights formula does not crease, crack, or fade. It is budge proof and beautiful.
The Ellis Faas Creamy Eyes formula is an exceptional base. The shade E107 Taupe is a medium brown that retains a bit more warmth than I would expect for a “taupe” but is still very neutral. You can apply these to your lid and blend out into your crease for an effortless everyday eye look that will wear all day or use them as a base for your eyeshadow look to ensure intense colour payoff and all day wear. The formula is very intense in pigment but as with the Lights product blending out is made effortless if a sheerer look is what you are going for or you want to achieve a soft fade into your crease.
I usually apply these products from the click pen onto the back of my hand and then apply to my lids with a brush or finger depending on my mood. As I have mentioned in prior Ellis Faas reviews I am not a fan of the click pen packaging and associated waste but at least with these formulas I find the click pen packaging to be a little more practical than with some of the other products in the line. I am a huge fan of the formulation and performance of these products and need to train myself to reach for them more often!
