Well big news! I actually went shopping! Not that I don’t shop pretty much every day online, but I actually went in person, for real shopping! This happens maybe once or twice a year for me now since having kids. Actually I think I even prefer shopping online because I tend to get overwhelmed at the counter feeling that the SAs are staring me down and feeling guilty looking and swatching everything. I usually end up leaving with nothing as I’m very picky and tend to be hypercritical of everything. Taking risks online ordering may sound scary to some but it has resulted in my taking chances on things I may never have looked twice at in person. This is how I’ve discovered many of my favourites.
So anyways…. I was shopping… in person… and what do I see before me but a small display of the Chanel Le Blanc collection. Months ago I fell in love with and ordered the Joyeuse Rouge Allure from Asia when the collection was released as an exclusive there. When more swatches of the collection began appearing online when it was released as part of the Nordstrom’s Anniversary event I began regretting not ordering Desinvolte Rouge Allure and Rose Tourbillon Joues Contraste at that time. Ordering from Nordstrom’s is just far too expensive to Canada so it wasn’t really an option. I was estatic to see the collection released in Canada since I had been disappointed about not being able to check out more of the Fall Collection in person, as it is yet to be released in Canada.
I was a little unsure about Rose Tourbillon at first for two reasons. First of all was that it is the euro/Asia baked formula. I don’t usually buy any of my JC’s or quads from Canada because I prefer the US formula. I have all three Joues Contraste blushes from the Fall 2010 collection that were all baked and while they were soft and incredibly pigmented when I first received them, they have all started to harden and become more difficult to lift pigment from. I originally used my MAC 187 with Pink Explosion and I now reach for my 116. It is even beginning to be too soft so I think an investment in a firmer brush for my euro/asia JCs is in order 😉 The second thing holding me back is that in store it seemed very sparkly. I prefer subtle shimmer in my blushes. I don’t care for glitter or even more noticeable sparkle. I didn’t want to regret not picking it up so I went for it and I’m so happy I did.
Rose Tourbillon is a gorgeous bright, deep candy/bubblegum pink. When it is applied it has a lovely subtle shimmer. Just a glow as opposed to looking sparkly. Perfect! It is closest in colour to Chanel Pink Explosion from Fall 2010. It is a little hard to tell in the comparison shots below but it is a little deeper and brighter than Pink Explosion. I would also say that while both blushes are definitively cool that Pink Explosion is a bit cooler.

Apologies for the odd finger print in the one swatch. My arm must have still been damp from scrubbing off the prior swatches 😉
