Benefit Cosmetics has revamped their award-winning Creaseless Cream Shadows. They have a fabulous new art-deco look and seven new shades have been added to join original favourites, R.S.V.P., Birthday Suit, and Skinny Jeans, to complete the line of ten shades.
The new packaging has a heavy, sturdy feel. The pot containing the cream shadow is glass and the screw on cap is plastic. The name of the shade is on the plastic cap, not on the pot itself, so make sure you know which cap belongs where if you have several shades open at once. I really like the design of the packaging. The cardboard boxes they come in are too cute to toss away! The only thing is they are wider more shallow pots than most cream shadows so it may require some rearranging in your cosmetics storage.
I have three of the new shade releases to introduce you to. Blue My Mind, Bikini-tini, Holy Smokes! Sorry that the pic below is not of pristine, new product. My initial pictures didn’t turn out so I had to retake them after testing.
Blue My Mind is aptly described as an arctic blue. It is a beautiful soft, shimmering icy blue. It has more of a sheer finish but can be built up to almost opaque coverage. It blends out beautifully. Benefit Canada’s incredibly talented and adorable artist and trainer Maddox demonstrated a look using this shade where he blended this right up to the browbone. I couldn’t fathom blending out a blue cream eyeshadow all the way to the brow but when I post my recreation of his look you will see how great this formula performs!
Bikini-tini is described as an oyster pink. I would describe it as a shimmery peach champagne with a very subtle hint of pink. It has nice opaque coverage and a thin, easy to apply and blend consistency. It wears all day without creasing or fading.
Holy Smokes! is described as a smoldering charcoal. It is a deep charcoal brown. Applied heavily it looks more brown and sheered out it looks more grey. This shade is on the sheer side. I actually love this though. I wouldn’t typically wear something this dark with a full opaque cream finish. The light texture of the Benefit Creaseless Creams means they apply wonderfully with a brush. I can work with this almost as easily as a powder shadow in my crease or outer corner.
Overall I am really liking these. They are great bases to keep your eyeshadows lasting all day and due to their thin, light texture they blend beautifully to be used in all cream eyeshadow budge proof looks applied with a brush.
The new Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadows ($20 US/$24 CAD) will be available March 2013 at Sephora, select Shoppers Drug Mart and Murale boutiques.
