When you think of Gwen Stefani you can’t help but think of her striking blonde hair and a bold lip. The collection of Urban Decay UD Gwen Stefani Collection Lipsticks and Lip Pencils live up to her signature style with a range of 8 statement making shades of UD Gwen Stefani Lipsticks ($18 US/$21 CAD) and 6 shades of UD Gwen Stefani 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencils($20 US/$24 CAD).
The lipsticks come packaged in plastic tubes with an eye-catching black and gold pattern. The plastic feels very lightweight so I found myself wishing it was a little more “expensive” feeling like the Urban Decay Revolution lipsticks.
The eight available shades are:
- Ex-Girlfriend – sheer nude-rose with pink shimmer
- Firebird – deep fuchsia cream
- 714 – bright red mega matte
- Rock Steady – deep wine red cream
- Spiderweb – satin red cream
- Wonderland – dark pink-red cream
- Phone Call – sheer bright pink
- Plaid – sheer deep berry
I have 5 of the shades that I’ve been testing:
The UD Gwen Stefani 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencils come in six coordinating shades:
- Ex-Girlfriend – nude-rose
- Firebird – deep fuchsia-pink
- 714 – classic red
- Rock Steady – blood red
- Wonderland – dark pink-red
- Phone Call – bright pink
I have been testing four of the shades:
The Liner in Ex-Girlfriend is a beautiful nude. I don’t find it has much of a rose tone to it but it has enough of one that it keeps it from pulling too warm on my skin tone. The Ex-Girlfriend lipstick is a beautiful sheer rose nude with a glossy finish and very subtle pink shimmer to give it a hint of a pink shift. Worn with the coordinating lip liner it pulls more nude brown. Worn alone it is much sheerer and maintains it’s pink tones.
The Liner in Wonderland is deceiving to the eye as it appears to be a warmer red in pencil form. On the skin and lips though it is the perfect pink-red match for the Wonderland Lipstick. I love Wonderland. The lipstick is ultra pigmented and creamy and has a beautiful sheen. The pink toned red shade is perfect for my colouring.
The Liner and Lipstick in 714 are another match made in heaven. The 714 Liner also coordinated beautifully with Spiderweb lipstick. 714 is a true classic red and the new mega matte formula is heavenly. It is offers intense opaque colour coverage with an light feel and comfortable creamy feel. It isn’t a flat matte but rather a soft and flattering satin matte.
Spiderweb Lipstick is an absolutely stunning ultra glossy red cream. This is the ultimate sexy red lip.
Rock Steady Lipstick takes things to a slightly more vampy level with a deeper wine toned hue. I find this to be the right level of dark to embrace the wine shade without being too dark and goth.
Firebird Pencil is a matte fuchsia with subtle sparkle. I really like this pencil worn alone even without it’s coordinating lipstick shade. It is extremely long wearing as you’d expect from the 24/7 formula while maintaining a comfortable feel.
I am really, really happy with the Urban Decay Gwen Stefani lip collection. The shades are so well curated and the formulas are beautiful. I don’t often have the nerve to wear a red lip but I find myself being a little more daring as the urge to rock a bold lip like Gwen is pretty powerful when you have the perfect little wardrobe of shades and finishes at your disposal like this.
