I first shared my thoughts on the new Yves Saint Laurent Glossy Stains with my review of YSL Rouge Couture Glossy Stain Corail Aquatique.
These glosses are 100% worth the hype. If you haven’t checked them out yet then I highly suggest you do so IMMEDIATELY at your earliest convenience.
From my earlier review:
I don’t know how YSL did it but these babies are infused with magic or something. When first applied they have a somewhat watery, thin texture. The uniquely shaped applicator is perfect for applying the product neatly to your lips without a lip liner. After a short period of time the product sets. This setting is where the magic comes in. It’s like the pigment sinks to the bottom to stain your lips and the top layer turns into an ultra shiny, very comfortable, cushy gloss. When first applied they don’t appear all that glossy. It is after setting that they transform into something totally different. Because of this unique transformation when you touch your lips to something, let’s say a glass for example, all that is left behind on the glass is a bit of almost clear gloss. The colour seems to stay mostly put on your lips and you just lose a bit of the glossy sheen as the product wears off. I purchased two somewhat light shades from the line so the stain left behind is not as intense as what you would get from one of the more intense shades offered.
Rose Vinyl is a gorgeous rose pink that on my skin tone appears surprisingly bright and almost hot pink compared to the other swatches I’ve seen. I love the colour but I was hoping/expecting something a tad more demure. .
All swatches taken in indirect natural light and then direct sunlight.
One coat:
After the first coat sets you can go back and apply a second for more intense colour with no ill effects to the formula.
Two coats:
Stain left on my skin after swatch rubbed off. Lasted all day. Effect on lips not as remarkable but with darker shades I believe it will be quite impressive.
Available at Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom, Sephora, Yves Saint Laurent online, Neiman Marcus, Holt Renfrew, and anywhere else carrying Yves Saint Laurent Beaute.
