The new Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture Glossy Stains have been causing quite the stir in the beauty community. I was hearing rave after rave about the innovative new formula of this product and I knew I had to finally bite the bullet and try them out for myself. I tell you it was extremely difficult narrowing it down to two shades for my first order. I was tempted at first to order several but I decided to be smart and determine whether I liked the formula or not first. Well let me just say the raves for this product are 100% justified. If you have not tried the new YSL Glossy Stains yet then get your butt in gear and order/buy one NOW!

I don’t know how YSL did it but these babies are infused with magic or something. When first applied they have a somewhat watery, thin texture. The uniquely shaped applicator is perfect for applying the product neatly to your lips without a lip liner. After a short period of time the product sets. This setting is where the magic comes in. It’s like the pigment sinks to the bottom to stain your lips and the top layer turns into an ultra shiny, very comfortable, cushy gloss. When first applied they don’t appear all that glossy. It is after setting that they transform into something totally different. Because of this unique transformation when you touch your lips to something, let’s say a glass for example, all that is left behind on the glass is a bit of almost clear gloss. The colour seems to stay mostly put on your lips and you just lose a bit of the glossy sheen as the product wears off. I purchased two somewhat light shades from the line so the stain left behind is not as intense as what you would get from one of the more intense shades offered.

Corail Aquatique appears quite orange swatched on my cool skin but on my lips it is indeed the most lovely shade of coral.
Here is one coat of Corail Aquatique on my lips:

Another amazing feature of these glosses is that you can layer them for a more intense result. Once the first application has set you can go back and apply a second layer and it doesn’t mess with the result at all. It still seems to set just as well. Here is two coats:

Here is the stain that was left on my arm after having rubbing the swatch vigorously off my arm with a tissue. This remained on my arm all day!

I really suggest you try these out for yourself. The shades I have certainly don’t last all day by any means but they last much longer than a typical gloss and the effect on the lips is so lovely and juicy. They are very comfortable and non sticky and I think I am hooked!
