Get ready. I’m about to introduce you to another amazing mascara. I am seriously having anxiety over the number of fabulous mascaras I have open at the moment. It seems like every new release I try I am falling in love with. How can I use them all in 3 months? May is my mascara month. So many new mascaras exceeding my expectations! I still have 2 or 3 left to open and test and I’m actually afraid I’m going to love them too. The Yves Saint Laurent Mascara Vinyl Couture ($29 US/$39 CAD) is an intense mascara that offers a great balance of volume and length, and has quickly moved to the top of my non-waterproof mascara stash.
It is beautifully packaged in a clear tube reminiscent of a lipgloss tube. I’ve never seen mascara packaged like this before. It looks so cool! The YSL Mascara Vinyl Couture is not only available in black, but also a variety of stunning colours and even sparkle top coats. How cool are the colours and top coats going to look in this packaging? The available shades are:
- N. 1 I’m The Clash -black
- N.2 I’m The Unpredictable – subergine
- N.3 I’m The Excitement – green
- N.4 I’m the Illusion – hazel
- N.5 I’m The Trouble – blue
- N.6 I’m The Madness – fuchsia
- N.7 I’m The Craze – purple
- N.8 I’m The Storm – dark sparkle top coat
- N.9 I’m The Fire – gold sparkle top coat
The brush is not molded silicone but a traditional brush. It has rather dense, short bristles and does a great job of picking up even short lashes.
I get really incredible length and volume with this mascara while still maintaining good definition. I didn’t experience any clumping and the swatches below are 2 coats without any lash combing required. The mascara held my curl for the day and I experienced absolutely no smudging or flaking whatsoever.
The mascara is infused with notes of mandarin, jasmine, and vanilla that for a subtle fragrance that makes the experience of applying YSL Mascara Vinyl Couture even more luxurious.
