Behold the otherworldly Urban Decay Moondust Eyeshadow Palette ($70 CAD/$49 US).
The Urban Decay Moondust Eyeshadows are like nothing I’ve tried before. The Moondust shadows seem to feed off lower sources of light for the most gorgeous 3D metallic effect, looking even more impressive in low, artificial, or indirect light than direct sunlight. They somehow look flatter in direct natural light. The reflective quality of these eyeshadows is a result of Urban Decay’s “super-secret” technology and the result really is breathtaking. I was at first thinking these would have more of a duo-chrome quality but instead they offer a glittering and twinkling iridescent reflection. The variety of shades makes this palette perfect for adding a touch of Moondust to any special look.
The packaging is absolutely mesmerizing. I am usually quick to discard outer cardboard packaging, and rarely bother to photography it, but the stunning lunar rainbow on the box is too gorgeous to toss. The palette itself is a sparkling gunmetal case with a recessed mirror cutout of the Moondust logo. There is a nice mirror on the inside of the lid. I am in love with this packaging. My only wish is that there wasn’t so much wasted space in the palette.
The eight shades in the palette are all brand new:
- Specter – soft pink with tonal sparkle
- Element – peach with pink shift and sparkle
- Magnetic – purple with blue sparkle
- Lightyear – vibrant green with tonal sparkle
- Granite – gunmetal with multicoloured sparkle
- Lithium – brown with iridescent 3-D sparkle
- Vega – bright blue with tonal sparkle
- Galaxy – smoky blue-tray with iridescent 3-D sparkle
This is obviously not a full eye look in a palette kind of eyeshadow palette. What it is is a secret weapon palette that you can pull out to add some dazzling sparkle to any eye look. They will produce some fallout on application so ensure you tap off the excess from your brush before applying, or do your eye makeup before your complexion.
