Urban Decay is bringing us the matte look we love but with a comfortably creamy and nondrying formula with the new Urban Decay Matte Revolution Lipsticks ($26 CAD). And let me tell you, these are not for the faint hearted. These lipsticks offer full impact and rich, vibrant colour thanks to their propriety Pigment Infusion System. The formula includes a blend of avocado, olive, and babassu oils, shea butter, and illipe butter to nourish and condition lips. Vitamins C and E offer antioxidant benefits.
The release includes 9 shades housed in sleek pearlized black cases with organically shaped facets waving on the surface. The shades include:
- Matte Blackmail – matte deep berry wine
- Matte Bad Blood – matte deep red
- Matte Tilt – matte bright orange
- Matte Temper – matte bright orange-red
- Matte After Dark – matte medium-dark berry pink
- Matte Menace – matte medium fuchsia pink
- Matte Bittersweet – matte bright purple
- Matte 1993 – matte medium brown
- Matte Stark Naked – matte light nude
I have five of the shades to share with you today.
Matte Tilt is a stunning vibrant reddened orange. It’s like the perfect happy medium between a bright coral and a bright orange-red. This shade calls for attention and is absolutely gorgeous.
Matte Stark Naked is an opaque nude tan. It has enough colour that it doesn’t give me the whole concealer look vibe.
Matte After Dark is a vampy dark berry. It is the only one of the five matte shades I tested that had a bit of fine shimmer in it. It also had a slightly sheerer finish to it as it wasn’t completely opaque in a single pass.
Matte Bittersweet is so much fun. This bright purple certainly takes a bold personality to wear but I think I’m willing to fake it till I make it to give this fabulous colour the lip time it deserves.
Matte Menace is simply put, the perfect fuchsia. It is vibrant, opaque, pink perfection. If you love hot pink lipsticks then you need Matte Menace in your life.
These saturated shades are a colour lovers paradise.
I am really impressed with these new Urban Decay Matte Revolution Lipsticks. They offer fully saturated, opaque pigment in a single pass. They are matte without looking flat, dry, and dull. And the best part is they feel great on the lips. Creamy and comfortable without drying lips out during the day. They have great lasting power, (although a bit less than an uber dry traditional matte), and even leave a bit of a stain behind. I am dying to see what Matte Blackmail looks like!
