Meet one of my new obsessions. The By Terry Ombre Blackstar ($43 US). I have been hearing amazing things about these “melting eyeshadows” for the last several years and now I finally see what all the fuss is about.
This cream pen eyeshadow contains Tahitian black pearl which is supposed to be rich in fortifying calcium, anti-aging proteins and antioxidant tocopherols, to smooth and perfect eyelids. It also has adhesive polymers for even, waterproof colour. The two shades I have tested are from the Christmas 2013 Terryblyssime collection.
#14 Blue Obsession is a stunning deep navy with ultra fine purple shimmer for a hint of brightness.
#15 Ombre Mercure is a a beautiful metallic taupe.
Now here’s the kicker. I have heard from other reviews that as far as Ombre Blackstars go these Christmas releases aren’t as exceptional as the standard line. Well I find them pretty darn amazing so my desire to try the rest of the Ombre Blackstar line-up has become even more intense! These shadows are very pigmented and blend out beautifully. You can blend out with your finger or with a brush as I did with Blue Obsession in the look below. I applied Ombre Mercure heavily on my lid for an opaque finish and only experienced some minor creasing with this method that was unnoticeable from a standard viewing distance. This was without a primer. The look lasted the entire day for me. I was so impressed with how I was able to blend out Blue Obsession in my crease to a lovely soft haze without any of the patchiness you sometimes experience when blending out cream products.
Ombre Mercure on the lid and Blue Obsession on the outer v and crease. On the lips I am wearing By Terry Gloss Terrybly Shine in 9 Bitten Splash (review coming soon).
By Terry is available in the US at Space NK (US) and in the UK and to Canada via Space NK (UK).
