The Tarte Tartelette Amazonian Clay Matte Eyeshadow Palette ($44 US/$53 CAD) makes me all kinds of happy. I mean seriously, what’s not to love about this palette?
The packaging is gorgeous. I love the purple and gold colour scheme and the slim, sturdy, mirrored compact wastes no space.
Inside are 12 gorgeous matte eyeshades. A completely matte palette. HEAVEN. Not only that but the shade offering is fantastic. There are several very light shades that are fair enough to work as base shades on my skin tone. There are also an amazing assortment of mid tone shades as well as 3 very deep shades including a killer matte black. The shades are a mix of both cool and warm tones none of which are so blatantly to one end of the spectrum that they won’t flatter everyone. VERY NICELY DONE TARTE!
The 12 shades (all exclusive to this palette) are:
- free spirit (cream)
- force of nature (nude)
- dreamer (warm brown)
- multi-tasker (chocolate)
- caregiver (pale pink)
- natural beauty (mauve)
- best friend (mulberry)
- bombshell (dark plum)
- super mom (ivory)
- wanderer (light brown)
- power player (taupe)
- fashionista (black)
The eyeshadows are all soft, blendable, and pigmented without being powdery. They adhere really well to the skin and have been lasting all day for me. My favorite, and most used shades, so far are natural beauty, best friend, bombshell, and supermom.
This palette has become an essential for me. Since I don’t have the smooth lids of my 20’s anymore using matte shades in my crease and as a base have become a must. I know I can turn to this palette no matter what kind of look I am wearing. While I do usually incorporate other shadows into my look, I like to at least have a shimmer shadow on the lid or inner corner most days, I still consider this palette pure genius. I wish more brands would come out with quality matte palettes like this.
Whether your collection is lacking in mattes, or you just love great eyeshadows, the Tartelette palette is a must have in my opinion.
