More incredible shu uemura beauty to share with you today. I’m sorry to be such a temptress! Another eyeshadow palette released as part of the Autumn Winter 2012 Chocolat Donna shu uemura collection is the Mint & Vanilla Palette ($85 CAD). I was at first certain that the Orange & Pistachio palette would be my favourite but now that I have tried Mint & Vanilla on my eyes I am not so sure. I think I like them equally for different purposes. While the two “fun shades” are a bit more cool toned than in the Orange & Pistachio palette the rest of the palette is definitively more warm. Since the more “fun shades” are used primarily as accents the overall effect of the Mint & Vanilla Palette is much warmer than her Orange & Pistachio sister.
I will quote my thoughts on the packaging from my previous review:
The packaging is small, sleek, and compact. I love that these palettes contain an amazing 6 colour selections (at 1.0 g each) and they take up so little room. The compact does include a mirror and thankfully the lack of sponge tipped applicators makes for a space saving (and refillable!) design. The gorgeous gold script design on deep chocolate brown packaging is very sophisticated an umm… yummy. Like a glam little chocolate bar!
The shu uemura Mint & Vanilla Palette contains a glittery amber gold, glittery mint green, matte ivory, shimmering taupe brown, matte red toned brown, and matte espresso with small sparkle.
Before swatching the shades in the Mint & Vanilla palette I thought the last three shades were almost identical to those in the Orange & Vanilla Palette but I quickly realized just how different they really are. The first two shades are the glitter formula that is a little bit harder to work with and pick up pigment. With a primer though I had no issues with fallout! It was just a matter of picking up enough product and I think a different brush would have easily rectified that. The remaining four shade are absolutely dreamy. Pigmented, smooth, creamy, heavenly! Such exceptional mattes! I mean look at these swatches. That is one swipe of my finger!
I know I’ve yet to share my look with the Orange & Pistachio Palette with you but here is a peek at a quick look I did with the Mint & Pistachio Palette today for a quite day at home. I was very surprised at how yellow gold the first shade looked applied to my eyes. Applied to my cool skin the red in the matte chocolate shade really stood out and proclaimed it’s individuality in comparison to the Orange & Pistachio Palette.
The collection will be available exclusively at Holt Renfrew this August 2012.
