Last year’s Vision of Beauty Vol. 01 Collection contained some of my all time favorite products. I am a HUGE shu uemura fan and I anticipate their new releases with bated breath. When I heard that the Fall 2015 shu uemura collection was going to be the Vision of Beauty Vol. 02 Collection I was beyond excited. Shu demur’s International Artistic Director, Uchiide, was inspired by the creativity and vibrant color of street art for the shu uemura Haute Street Vision of Beauty Vol. 02 Fall 2015 Collection. The eyeshadow palettes and Tint in Gelato tubes feature artwork that is the result of a collaboration between Uchiide and the artist Oyama Enrico Isamu Letter. Can you find the hidden “S”, “H”, and “U” in the design?
The star products in the collection are the stunning Haute Street Eyeshadow Palettes ($90 CAD). There is a Haute Street Cool X Chic Palette and a Haute Street Warm X Vibrant Palette.
Inside you will find 6 eyeshadows. The quality is absolutely exceptional. shu uemura is one of my favorite brands when it comes to eyeshadows. The formulas offer excellent pigmentation, and a smooth blendable texture whether you are using a matte or a shimmer. The two palettes are organized with the first shade being a deep, dark definition shade. Black in the cool version and brown in the warm. The next two shades are wall canvas shades. They create a perfect base canvas and add depth to the brighter shades when blended together. One is a shimmer and one is matte. Using the first 3 shades in each canvas creates a beautiful everyday eye when you aren’t feeling as adventurous with colour. The last 3 shades are the stunning vivid artist accent shades. This is where you get to get really adventurous and play with colour.

The collection also includes 4 shades of Tint in Gelato Lip and Cheek Color ($28 CAD). The shades are:
- Urban Coral
- Graffiti Orange
- City Dusk
- Street Rose
I have been testing out Graffiti Orange and Street Rose.
When I first swatched these I couldn’t help but go Whoa! The colours are absolutely stunning but my goodness, so vibrant. I figured there was no way I would be able to wear them. I knew I shouldn’t have been worried because the formula on these is so dreamy to work with. They are incredibly pigmented but the texture is so light and creamy that they can be blended out to the softest tint. When wore more intensely they have a slightly more dewy finish and when blended out sheerly they have a beautiful soft matte finish. These have a silken texture that doesn’t feel tacky or sticky at all. I adore them. In the look below you can see me wearing Street Rose. Such a lovely natural flush.
There are four new limited edition shades of Rouge Unlimited Lipstick ($36 CAD) in the collection in two different textures.
The two original formula lipstick shades in City Neon and Avenue Sunset are formulated for supreme moisture and comfort. These are the shades I tested. The supreme shine lipsticks in Brick Burgundy and Highway Pink offer a fusion of water dewy shine with rich color payoff for an smooth, shiny veil on the lips.
I really love the bright, translucent, juicy effect of these lipsticks. They have become quick favourites. Many may find these very a-typical shades and finishes for fall lip colours but I will enjoy wearing these year round.
Some of the most fun items in the collection are the Dual-ended Eye Colour Pencils ($30 CAD). These are matte finish, vibrantly coloured eye pencils that can be used as a liner and a shadow. Layered underneath the coordinating eyeshadow palettes they amp up the vibrancy and colour payoff of the shadows. Used alone they offer bold matte colour. These have a drier texture that applies smoothly and sets to a budge-proof finish.
Cool X Chic includes a neon green and neon blue. Warm X Vibrant includes a neon yellow and neon pink.
Not shown are the new limited edition shades of shu uemura Drawing Pencil ($28 CAD) in the collection in M Violet and ME Brown.
What do you think of the collection? It is definitely for colour lovers! What I love is that the bold colours for lips and cheeks are very wearable and that, with the eye products, there is the option of using only some of the shades for a very wearable look while you can incorporate the artistic shades when you’re feeling adventurous.
You can find shu uemura products on their website and at Holt Renfrew as well as select Hudson’s Bay and Sephora locations.
