TheFacets of Marsala Multi-Finish Eye Palette ($39 US/$49 CAD) is probably what one could call the star product in the SEPHORA + PANTONE UNIVERSE 2015 Colour of the Year Marsala 18-1438 Capsule Collection. This eye shadow palette includes 24 eyeshadows in matte, glitter, pearl, and shimmer finishes. There are many variations of the Marsala shade included as well as many complimentary and neutral shades. A very versatile and beautiful compilation of colours.
The exterior packaging features a transparent marsala ombre effect. It is really quite lovely. Things get even prettier when you open up the exterior packaging to reveal the product packaging itself. All the products in the collection are housed in palettes that have either a gold finish or rose gold (one might call it marsala tinged gold) finish. I’m not sure whether the variation in tone of the gold packaging was intentional or not. Facets of Marsala Multi-Finish Eye Palette has the more marsala tinged gold finish while some of the other products in the collection, like the Shimmering Cheek Trio and Cooling Marsala Multi Stick have more true gold toned packaging.
The palette is very slim and well designed. I like that there is no unnecessary space taken up for useless sponge tipped applicators and the like.
Aside from the silver and blue in the palette the shades are predominately warm toned. Quite warm toned. If you know warm shades as these are very unflattering on you then you may want to pass. If you have cool skin but can still wear warmer tones like myself, or if you are warm toned, then this palette is an absolute must. Especially if you have blue eyes. My word these marsala shades look INCREDIBLE on blue eyes. Swoon worthy for sure!
The formulas of these shadows is exceptional. They are all so silky and creamy. When I was swatching these with a sponge tipped applicator they actually looked like creams in the pan after I’d pressed the applicator into them. So buttery soft and richly pigmented. They are all gorgeous. The mattes completely blew me away. I mean I think the mattes may have actually been the most pigmented and creamiest powders in the whole palette. Who’d a thunk it! I know the formulas of the powder eyeshadows in different Sephora branded eyeshadow palettes can vary but I can tell you that these are wonderful. If all Sephora eyeshadow palettes were of this quality I would have to amass and army of them!
