Clinique is giving Holiday Makeup Collections a fresh and feminine take with their Clinique The Nutcracker Suite Collection Holiday 2014 Collection. This pretty pink collection stands out with it’s shades inspired by characters, costumes and scenery of the classic holiday ballet performance The Nutcracker. The soft white and pinks of snowflakes and sugarplums give a pretty and whimsical holiday look which can be a refreshing change from the sea of dramatic reds, golds, and smokey eyes of traditional Holiday shade offerings. I think this is especially great for us fair skin gals who sometimes can’t pull off gold, and the chickens like me who still don’t have the nerve to wear a red lip out of the house.
The collection includes:
Nutcracker Act I Colour Compact ($46 CAD) A Snowflake Suite eye shadow quad in soft pinks and sultry tones paired with a delicate pink Blushing Blush Powder Blush in Plié Pink. This palette features a white and pale pink that are rather frosty but don’t have fully opaque pigmentation so they add a lovely glow to the eyes without looking too frosty. The mauve shade has a bit more toned down shimmer and more colour payoff to add definition to the eye. The black shade is a rich deep black with nice pigmentation and a little subtle sparkle for added holiday glamour. The blush is the most pigmented powder in this palette. A beautiful pink with just the right amount of glowing shimmer.
Blended Face Powder in Snowflake Dreams ($29 CAD) was created to mirror the shimmering elegance of the Nutcracker ballet performance. This shimmering pink powder is designed for shoulders, neck and chest. It is a little too much for use on the face. The pink is far less intimidating on the skin than it appears in the jar. I love the idea of a pink toned body shimmer powder as opposed to the traditional golden tones. Perfect for any party year round.
