I am taken with the pieces I have from the OPI Oz the Great and Powerful limited edition nail lacquer collection. Particularly Which is Witch? and I Theodora You. Who knew I could fall so passionately for a pale pink. I never pay attention to that type of colour thinking it is rather unexciting but this shade of pink is just so delicate and perfect. Top it with Which is Witch? and the result is pure magic. The following swatches are two coats of I Theodora You with one coat of Which is Witch? over it on my ring finger. I Theodora You is a gorgeous sheer pink. You may require 3 coats to get a totally even finish. I was happy with two. Especially with the topcoat on top three is not required.
After swatching I fell so head over heels for these two that I knew I had to do a full manicure for the weekend. This is two coats of Which is Witch? over two coats of I Theodora You. I have a lot of nail swatching to do but I really don’t want to remove this manicure. It’s been on 3 days now and it’s still perfect.
What Wizardry is This? is a rich taupe brown with a matte finish and infused subtle sparkle infused with OPI’s groundbreaking Liquid Sand technology. It is a really neat effect and while I thought I wouldn’t care for it I am actually quite fond of it. From close up, like in the following photos, it looks a tad odd but at normal viewing distance it’s a really nice effect. Apply a topcoat and the shimmer becomes more evident and it takes on a more typical finish. You can see this through the application of When Monkeys Fly! on my ring finger. What Wizardry is This? is a bit sheer but looks good after two coats as shown below. Three coats may be required for a more perfect finish.
When Monkeys Fly! is a little tricky to work with. It has very large pieces of gold hex glitter. These pieces curl. As you see in the swatch below the upper piece is folded under while the one below it is folded up. This means the glitter can be standing up off your nail quite a bit. I was surprised to find though that just one coat of topcoat made a remarkable difference and I didn’t find the rough texture obtrusive any longer. I thought I wouldn’t be able to resist picking at the raised glitter but the topcoat made it quite smooth overall. I love being surprised and falling for something I never expected to love.
As with all OPI nail lacquers, the shades inspired by Oz The Great and Powerful contain no DBP, Toluene, or Formaldehyde, and feature OPI’s exclusive ProWide™ Brush for the ultimate in application.
