A long wearing, easy to apply black gel liner is an essential in every professional makeup kit, and as far as I’m concerned, in every personal makeup collection as well. I now have a new favourite in rotation. The Illamasqua Precision Gel Eyeliner ($27.50 CAD) meets every one of my expectations in a gel liner.
The formula applies smoothly with the right level of creaminess. It’s dry enough to adhere well to the lid with excellent pigmentation while not travelling all over, yet creamy enough to apply effortlessly, allow a reasonable amount of “play time”, and blend out if desired. It is an intense black with a matte finish. The water resistant formula lasts all day even in hot humid conditions and watery eyed allergy season. I also experience absolutely no transfer to my lower waterline when I tighline my upper lash line with this liner.
You get a really nice amount of product. $27.50 CAD for 5g/0.18oz. Just to give you an idea how much product that it is it is twice as much as the new NARS gel liners while MAC Fluidlines have 3g/0.07oz of product.
Shown below with a heavy wing on the upper lash line and blended into the outer half of the lower lash line with a wash of Burberry Midnight Brown eyeshadow.
