Benefit Cosmetics just release the most epic brow collection of all time. Yes it really is EPIC. The collection includes an incredible NINE products with a range of six shades available for many of them spanning from light to deep in a variety of undertones. I was lucky enough to be able to discover the products at a launch party in Canada and I happened to be the one and only Shade 1 at the event. Yes I am THAT special. Didn’t you know? If you have not only fair hair, but also fair skin and brows, you will love Shade 1.
The collection is all about addressing every brow need with products that are easy to use, and not intimidating.
The first product that I want to introduce you to is a new product and will be the first step in your brow routine. We prime our skin, and prime our eyelids, why not our brows? You may think this is a frivolous extra step but this product is actually one of my favourites in the collection. The Benefit BROWVO! Conditioning Primer ($36 CAD) creates the perfect base for applying brow products. If you are like me, and don’t have much brow hair to speak of, then you will love this. Sometimes it can be hard to get brow products (that are usually formulated to adhere to hairs) to adhere to your skin. This really helps me achieve a more even application over my sparse areas. It’s nutrient rich formula also conditions the area and encourages the growth of thicker, healthier, and fuller brows. I haven’t been using it long enough to speak to these claims but I am looking forward to seeing results.
The product is dispensed in a click pen style, with one click dispensing the perfect amount of product for each brow. The nubby soft touch applicator works the product gently into your brow area.
Next up is another one of my favourite products in the new Benefit Brow lineup. The Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil ($30 CAD) is as fabulous as it sounds. I was worried at first that this pencil would be too large for my liking but the unique angular, tear drop like shape makes precise, yet quick and effortless brow shaping possible. The formula glides on very smoothly and works great over my sparse areas to quickly fill them in, without getting too intense where I do have hair.
The Goof Proof pencil is available in the full six shade range:
- 1 – light
- 2 – light
- 3 – medium
- 4 – medium
- 5 – deep
- 6 – deep
Shade 1 is a dream for me. I light taupe blonde that doesn’t run too grey or too warm.
The other brow pencil in the collection is the new Benefit Precisely, My Brow Pencil ($30 CAD). This skinny retractable brow pencil is reminiscent of the Anastasia Brow Wiz. It allows you to draw on precise hairs for a natural brow look. I love using this most in combination with other products in the collection for a natural look. I can fill in the more sparse areas with something like the Goof Proof pencil or Brow Zings and then add some dimension back using hair like strokes with Precisely.
The Shade 1 in this pencil is slightly different than the Shade 1 in Goof Proof pencil. The pencil is available in the full six shade range as well.
Both the Goof Proof and Precisely, My Brow pencils include a spoolie on the end for grooming your brows and blending in the product for a more natural results. A final go over my brows with a spoolie is always a must in my opinion!
I think the probably the coolest product in the Benefit Brow collection is another brand new launch, the Benefit 3D BROWtones ($30 CAD). This gently shimmering brow gel adds subtle brow enhancing highlights to the brows after you’ve filled them in with another product(s). You may think that highlights for the brows sounds ridiculous but oh my goodness this product is genius. It makes such a difference in your finished brow look. Sometimes after filling and sculpting your brows they can be left looking a little flat and two dimensional. This adds such a wonderful dimension back to the brows. I think this may be my favourite product in the whole collection! It is available in two shades, 2 Light/Medium and 4 Medium/Deep.
All the product swatches are towards the bottom of this post but I want to show you a closeup of the 3D BROWtones in action. This photo certainly wasn’t take in the optimum lighting to show it off but just look at those highlights. I mean how cool is that!
The Benefit Gimme Brow ($30 CAD) is the same Gimme Brow that we know and love with new packaging AND a new shade! Shade 1 Light is the original Light/Medium, Shade 3 Deep is the original Medium/Deep shade. The new shade is the new Shade 2 Medium. I love Gimme Brow because the brow volumizing fiber gel gives my small, sparse brows some much needed oomph. It also beautifully sets the brow and adds back dimension. If you have fairly decent brows to begin with this product is perfect for grooming and filling in your brows a bit in a flash all on it’s own.
Benefit Ka-BROW! ($30 CAD) is a new cream-gel brow colour that comes with it’s own brush cleverly hidden in it’s cap. I’ve seen this kind of hidden cap applicator done in the past but this is the first time I’ve actually seen it done WELL. Benefit spent a lot of time creating the perfect brush for applying the formula and making the included brush actually convenient and easy to use. I figured I’d just use my go to brow brushes when using this brow gel but I’ve actually been loving using it’s included brush. Ka-BROW! is available in the full Benefit Brow six shade lineup.
Benefit Brow Zings ($42 CAD) is another returning product but with all new packaging and new shades available. This all in one eyebrow shaping kit is now available in a full range of six shades. That’s three new shades!
The little Brow Zings palette includes mini tweezers and a fold out, double ended brush that is actually very well made and works beautifully. The one flat paddle shaped end smoothly applies the brow wax while the angled brush is the perfect shape and firmness for applying the brow powder. If you have more sparse brows like I do you can apply the wax first to really give the powder something to adhere to. I do find this does darken up the resulting shade a bit though. Or you can just use the brow wax on top of the powder to set your brows.
Benefit Ready, Set, BROW! ($30 CAD) is a new 24 hour invisible shaping and setting gel. It has a custom molded, dual sided applicator that has short bristles on one end and longer ones on the other to suit whatever length and density of brow hairs you have to set your perfect brow look all day.
Another returning product is Benefit High Brow ($29 CAD). This matte pale pink highlighting pencil gives your brow bone the perfect accent and has all new packaging. What is new is it’s new partner in crime, the High Brow Glow ($29 CAD). This new shimmering champagne shade (not shown) is perfect for those that like a little bit of glow to their brow highlight.
Swatch time! You can see that my brows certainly put any brow product to the challenge and the Benefit Brow Collection has exceeded my expectations. My collection feels complete as I no longer have to search for the perfect formulas and the perfect shade. Thank you Benefit for creating the perfect Shade 1 and such an impressive array of brow products!
