There were four new single eyeshadows released with the NARS Fall 2013 Color Collection. There are three matte shades:
- Namibia – grey moon
- Yamal – brown sugar
- Kamchatka – navy smoke
as well as one shimmer shade:
- Bavaria – deep sea blue
The are housed in small rubberized compacts that look identical to the NARS blush compacts only smaller. They are absolutely the cutest!
The shades all swatched beautifully with a sponge. I didn’t find the matte shades to be at all chalky. Namibia, Kamchatka, and Bavaria feel a bit dry but Yamal feels positively creamy to the touch. I had very high hopes for the soft grey and brown shades of Namibia and Yamal as matte crease shades. Unfortunately I couldn’t get either of them to show up on my eyes at all. I’m not sure what the issue was. My skin is fair and they showed up beautifully on my arm but even over primer I could not get them to show up sufficiently on my lids. I can see them maybe working as all over matte base shades or they could be used to assist in blending out a deeper crease shade. Kamchatka is a purple leaning matte navy. This one blends out beautifully in the crease and creates a lovely smoky eye. Unfortunately it does seem to fade significantly throughout the day even with a primer. My favourite from the collection is Bavaria. It is a gorgeous teal green that has a luminous shimmer. It has good pigmentation and lasting power.
