Fall is all about shades of deep wine and burgundy. I already have the Rebecca Minkoff handbag in the shade Port picked out that I know is going to be my favorite fall accessory. This week the Makeup Wars team is looking at more unique eye product colours. Burgundy shades may be best suited to accentuating green eyes, but I also happen to find plum and burgundy shades incredibly flattering on blue eyes. When I want something a little different than the traditional black and brown eyeliner I love using a deep dark burgundy. It is deep enough to intensify the lashline while still offering a bit of colour that makes the look more interesting, without veering too far out of neutral territory.
Two of my favorite eyeliners are the Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Deep Burgundy ($22 US/$29 CAD) and the Smashbox Always Sharp 3D Liner in 3D Gemstone($20 US/$23 CAD).
Still Deep Burgundy is such a gorgeous deep, dark opaque burgundy with a creamy formula that glides on beautifully. Smashbox 3D Gemstone takes a bit of building up to get a more opaque finish but it is a stunning brown berry with gold pearl.
Both of these eyeliners are completely waterproof and budge-proof all day.
I would love if you could find more mascaras in this colour family. There seem to be lots of purple shades released but rarely more burgundy toned shades as this. There was a limited edition YSL one years ago I adored and I still mourn it’s passing.
What are your favorite alternatives to black and brown eyeliner to compliment your eyes? Do you have any favourite burgundy toned eye liners I should check out?
