I have been a huge fan of micellar water for years. Just don’t ask me how to pronounce it! Bioderma has always been the micellar water. I’ve adored the Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micellar Water for more years than I can count. It’s a staple for me in my professional kit, my bathroom, and in my office for removing makeup swatches from my arms and lips. The beauty of these products is that you don’t need rinse afterwards and they are incredibly effective at removing makeup, including waterproof makeup. This makes them ideal for travelling, having on hand for makeup touchups, using in professional kits and so much more. They are very gentle on the skin while being a powerhouse when it comes to makeup removal.
Thankfully in the last couple years more and more brands are coming out with micellar products making them easier to access in a variety of price points. Here are some of my favorite micellar products right now:
Bioderma Sensibio H20 Makeup Removing Micelle Solution ($18.90 CAD/250ml) – the one that started it all. This cleanser and makeup remover is so gentle on the skin and eyes. It completely removes all traces of even waterproof makeup and leaves skin feeling fresh and clean. You simply soak a cotton pad and remove your makeup and keep repeating until the cotton pad is clean. No need to rinse!
Bioderma Sensibio H20 Wipes – now the amazing Sensibio H20 is available in portable wipes. I am SO excited about these. Perfect for travel!
Vichy Pureté Thermale Makeup Removing Micellar Cleansing Wipes ($14.95 CAD) – Vichy has a few options available for micellar cleansers, which I believe I’ve tried in the past with success. Their newest release is these micellar wipes and they are fantastic. I am really loving the micellar wipes over traditional makeup removal wipes which I find can sometimes be a little too rough and strong for my skin and I also find they usually leave some sort of residue behind leaving me wanting to rinse my face. With the micellar wipes there is no residue.
La Roche-Posay has a new line of La Roche-Posay Micellar Water Ultra ($19.95 CAD) that combine the power of micelles with glycerin. I am finding this combo equally as effective at makeup removal while leaving skin feeling even more hydrated. There are three versions available for:
- Normal to Sensitive Skin – gentle and soothing with a light hypoallergenic fragrance and hydrating glycerin.
- Oily Skin – This version adds the clarifying power of Zinc.
- Dry to Reactive Skin – this version is enriched with the highest percentage of glycerin amongst the Water Ultra line at 5%. This is the one I have been using and loving as you can see by the half empty bottle.
The NeoStrata Detoxifying Micellar Gel ($22 CAD) – Like other micellar cleansers this is a no rinse product. The interesting thing is that it is in gel form rather than liquid. It also includes NeoStrata’s Celldetox to and vitamin E to detoxify the skin of impurities while gently removing makeup.
Jouviance has a great range of travel sized products including this Jouviance 4 in 1 Micelle Solution ($6 CAD). Micelle solutions are already travel perfect cleansers so having it in a travel friendly size is even more perfect. Cleanse, tone, hydrate, and remove makeup all in one, rinse-free step.
What are your favorite micellar products? And if you haven’t tried any yet… what are you waiting for?!
Love that so many of these have travel versions. I hate decanting stuff.
