The Makeup Wars Team post today is all about Marsala. The color of the year for 2015. Here is a roundup and a look featuring all of the SEPHORA + PANTONE UNIVERSE products I’ve reviewed over the past couple weeks as well as a some other Marsala colour family items from other brands. Facets of Marsala Multi-Finish Eye Palette ($39 US/$49 CAD) This eye shadow palette containing matte, glitter, pearl, and shimmer finishes, and 24 coordinating shades to accompany them is the perfect way to embrace the marsala trend. The quality of the shadows is wonderful and the shade assortment is fantastic and so much fun.

Shimmering Marsala Cheek Trio ($28 US/$35 CAD) This palette includes two matte blushes paired with a cream highlighter. Again great quality and pigmentation and lovely shades.

Marsala Layering Lip Collection ($28 US/$35 CAD) I love these 5 buttery lip pencils. I think the shades are so flattering and a nice variety of tones of marsala.

Cooling Marsala Multi Stick ($25 US/$32 CAD) This lightly-pigmented balm cools on contact while delivering a sheer wash of flattering Marsala. Very wearable and easy to work with.

Marsala Metalshine Liquid Liner ($18 US/$23 CAD) This long-wearing liquid liner is a bold way to wear Marsala with a striking metallic finish. Love it!

Here is the look I created using all of the products in the collection. The lip pencil shade used is Marsala.

A lot of these products sold out fast but from what I’ve heard they are restocking! Shop the collection:
Now you don’t need to purchase the “official” SEPHORA + PANTONE UNIVERSE Marsala collection to embrace the colour of the year. There are lots of existing and new products from many brands that are the Marsala shade or in the same colour family. Here are some great options from Maybelline and Essie!

Now, for the most part, these are quite a bit more plum and pink toned than the red brown marsala shade. This is a great way to go if you find marsala a little hard to wear with a cooler complexion. By going with a bit more plum tones you may feel a little more comfortable and can still feel like you are embracing the theme of the trend. In the order swatched below:
- Maybelline New York Maybelline New York ColorSensational Lip Liner in Mocha
- Maybelline New York SuperStay 14HR Lipstick in Wine and Forever
- Maybelline Master Glaze Blush Stick in Make a Mauve
- Maybelline New York Eye Studio Color Tattoo Leather Cream Gel Shadow in Vintage Plum
- essie In Stitches
- essie Angora Cardi

A few nail polishes that I pulled out of my collection that follow the Marsala trend are:
- Butter London Shag
- OPI I Knead Sour-Dough
- OPI I’m Fondue of You
