Make-Up Designory (MUD) is an internationally renowned New York and Los Angeles based cosmetics brand that is finally available in Canada. This brand, while completely new to me, has been around for over 20 years.
My favorite items from MUD Cosmetics are definitely the eyeshadows. The formula on all four shades I tried were exceptional. There’s some powder kick up when you dip your brush in the pans but as long as you tap off the excess prior to applying there is no fallout on application. They were smooth, pigmented, and a dream to blend. They come in individual Eye Colour Refill Pans ($8 US/$7.50 CAD) in clamshell packaging. I will be using this palette a lot as it has all the shades I need to create a full, and gorgeous, eye look.
- Bone – light eggshell matte
- Chamois – soft camel brown matte
- Bronzed – shimmering golden brown
- Sienna – demi-matte soft warm brown
The sturdy cardboard palette that houses four shadows is sold separately for $10 CAD and includes a mirror.
The MUD Cosmetics blushes also come in individual pans in clamshell packaging. The Cheek Colour Refill Pans ($16 CAD) in Poppy is a very pigmented and vibrant pink. This will be beautiful on medium to deep skin tones. On fair to light skin tones this gives a lively flush of colour when applied with a light hand.
The compact, sold separately, is made of solid plastic and has a clear window revealing the blush shade within.
The Satin Lipstick ($19 CAD) in Just Peachy is a richly pigmented deep peach shade with excellent colour payoff and a glossy shine. The look and feel of this lipstick is incredible but I didn’t care for the scent. It’s not actually scented but it has that old fashioned lipstick smell that, personally, I’m not a fan of.
The Volumizing Mascara ($19 CAD) I found to be more of a defining mascara that is nice for everyday wear. It doesn’t give a ton of volume but gives a nice amount of length and definition for a more subtle effect. I didn’t experience any clumping, flaking, smudging, or other issues.
