The Marc Jacobs Air Blush Soft Glow Duo ($42 US/$57 CAD) is a blush that features two shades that are merged together with a unique striped pattern inspired by a 2013 spring collection Marc Jacobs dress. The gradient of the stripe features a higher concentration of the lighter shade on the left of the palette and more of the deeper shade on the right. This means you can sweep your brush from the right side of the palette for more of a contouring blush application and follow by picking up colour from the left side for a lighter, more radiant shade on the tops of the cheeks. The format of these duos makes them quite versatile. Sweeping your brush left to right, or right to left, picks up a more blended hue. Picking up the product by sweeping your brush up and down vertically to the very left or right of the palette allows you to truly concentrate on either the lighter or deeper blush shade.
The formula introduces a new weightless ingredient, Japanese “air powder” pigment, that is meant to give the powder an undetectable finish on the skin. The blush does meld with the skin for a softly luminous finish that isn’t at all powdery. They are meant to offer 24 hours of wear which I didn’t fully test. Who needs their blush to lasts 24 hours? It does last a full 15 hour day on my with no signs of fading.
There are five shade combinations available. They are all very wearable and flattering shades. The softly radiant finish these offer, without any visible shimmer, makes these blushes a standout choice for any skin tone, skin texture, or age.
