There seem to be more and more lash growth enhancement products hitting the market these days. While some offer hefty price tags and a scary list of possible side effects, others offer a more affordable option, more availability, and less risk, but the question is always “Do they work?” I have been testing out the new CityLash Lash Growth Enhancer. And if I am to go by the sudden increase in compliments on my (what I’ve always considered skimpy) lashes I would have to say it does work.
CityLash ($79.99 US) uses the potent Myristoyl Pentapeptide-17 as its main active. Through clinical trials this ingredient has shown from a 54% to 72% increase in lash line. CITY LASH is safe, natural, fragrance free, never tested on animals, and contains NO prostaglandin or paraben, which can damage eyes and skin. Some products also sting, and cause redness and irritation as well as discoloration of the skin and eyes. Using clinically tested SymPeptide™, CITY LASH can also be applied to thicken eyebrows. I found the product did not irritate the sensitive skin of my eyelids at all and I found no change in colour or condition of the skin. If you get the product IN your eyes however it does sting. I advise ensuring you don’t allow the product to drip down through your lashes into your eyes. It’s easy to avoid as long as you don’t apply too much.
“We have researched and created a groundbreaking eyelash enhancing product to enable women to look more beautiful with no health risks or side effects,” said Claire Atwood, Makeup Artist and Beauty Expert with CITY Cosmetics. “Since our eyelashes and brows naturally grow thin over time, we wanted to offer a safe product that enhances our beauty. Why wear false eyelashes and lash extensions if you can grow and thicken your eyelashes naturally?”
I don’t find my before and after photos do a very good job of demonstrating the results I achieved. While my lashes are curled in both photos they appear to be holding the curl better in my after shots. Maybe a benefit of healthier lashes? Since my lashes are quite fair, especially on the ends, the length and new growth of lashes filling in some of my previous gaps, aren’t very evident without mascara. I wish I had thought to do proper before and after pics with the same mascara as with mascara on the results are quite a bit more dramatic. Available at CityCosmetics.com.
