This week the Makeup Wars team is sharing our top skin savers for skin troubles. Acne, dry skin, eczema, wrinkles, oiliness, whatever your skin trouble may be I’m sure one of our members has a product to fit the bill!
My skin is really, really dry. Even in the summer I still suffer from dry and dehydrated skin. While those of you with oily skin and breakouts may think you are envious trust me, you are lucky! You will be looking young and fabulous while my dry skin has always aged me beyond my years. I would love to say I have found a real skin saver for my dry skin I am still working on it. In the meantime regular exfoliation and a plethora of moisturizers and serums do their best to keep my skin in check.
I am still loving the Algenist Triple-Action Micropolish and Peel ($72 CAD). My sensitive skin can’t handle physical exfoliants very well but used sporadically this 10 percent acid duo (patent-pending Alguronic Acid and glycolic acid) in a potent combination with a 10 percent fruit enzyme complex and micro-polishing crystals does a beautiful job of eliminating flakies and gives my dry skin a smoother and more radiant look.
I have a tendency to break out in tiny whiteheads on my nose and sometimes spread to other areas of my t-zone. Applying Vichy Normaderm Hyaluspot ($21 CAD) every few days keeps these at bay.
If I do break out into a full blown raging pimple (thankfully this doesn’t happen often) I can throw one of these handy dandy 3M Nexcare Acne Absorbing Covers ($8.50 US) on and dry than bad boy up.
I have a patch of red and peeling skin on my chin that almost never goes away. I’m not sure if it’s just a part of my dry skin or if I suffer from some form of eczema. I’ve never actually visited a dermatologist to have a proper diagnosis (bad girl!). If it is really acting up, or if I have gone a little overboard on exfoliation, La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Epidermal Recovery Accelerator (really helps calm my skin and heal any irritation or distress.
Lansinoh HPA Lanolin ($10 CAD) is 100% ultra-pure USP modified lanolin that is hypoallergenic and used to treat raw and cracked nipples during breastfeeding. I have been using this as a lip balm for 4 years now and haven’t had a hint of dry, chapped, cracked, or flaking lips since. It’s a miracle worker!
My trusty old Clarisonic Mia ($139 CAD) was recently dug out of hiding when I started experiencing more clogged pores again. Regular use of this cult favourite beauty tool keep my pores clear and tight and helps all my other beauty products penetrate better and work more effectively.
