This week the Makeup Wars Team members are sharing their favourite hair tools. The ones we couldn’t live without and that have made a real difference to our hair routines. The one that stands out for me the most is my Proliss Tourmaline Ceramic Twister Tapered 18-9mm Clipless Curling Iron. I got this as a Groupon a few months ago. It’s supposed to be a $220 curling iron (crazy) and I got it for $39.99. At first I was worried I would have to find a glove somewhere to be able to use it but thankfully it came with one included, it just wasn’t mentioned. While there is certainly a learning curve involved, this curling iron has knocked any other curling iron I’ve ever tried out of the water. It gets hot, and really hot, super fast. It curls my hair really quickly and the curls are smooth. And the best part is the shape of the curl. The clipless design and conical shape give me the most beautiful, and natural, shaped curls. They have a wider base that gives me lots of root lift and cascade down to a finer ringlet just like my natural curls. This curling iron has saved me from chopping my hair off. I use it to fix the few areas of my hair that don’t curl as well as the rest and my hair has never looked better.
Duck Bill Clips have also made a huge difference in how my hair looks by giving my roots lift while my hair dries. I will go into further details in my curly hair routine soon and show you these in action.
A Diffuser is another essential tool for me. While letting my hair air dry is one of the best secrets to achieving great curls using a hair dryer with a diffuser to give my roots a quick blast after my hair is almost air dried ensures I have even more body at the roots. There is certainly nothing special about my run of the mill diffuser itself but the tool as a category is essential. I would really like to find a soft rubbery one like my sister has one day to really make my diffuser “perfect”.
