This week the Makeup Wars Bloggers are sharing with you our makeup storage solutions. Mind you most of you probably don’t need the kind of excessive storage we do but hopefully you will find some storage tips to make your life a little easier! I really would like to show you my storage in use. Unfortunately it is a complete and utter disaster at the moment. I have totally outgrown my current organization system and need to rearrange and regroup. I wish I was able to do that prior to this post but it just didn’t happen. I will show you pics after I have found a new system!
My makeup/vanity area is actually part of my office/workspace. It only made sense for me to combine the two since my makeup became my work. This is how I made it happen:
- Ikea LINNMON/ADILS Table – I wanted the longest and cheapest desk I could find and at $59 CAD this 78 3/4×23 5/8″ setup was perfect. The left side has my computer and the right my makeup storage. There is a centre area that is left open in front of a window for makeup application in natural light.
- Ikea ALEX 6 Drawer Unit on Casters – This 26 3/8×26″ drawer unit slides perfectly under the far right side of my desk. It has 3 more shallow drawers and 3 deeper ones. I wish the shallow ones were just a touch deeper because unfortunately I can’t store many of my Chanel, Dior, and other compacts on their sides as I’d like to conserve space. I found a great deal on some fabric covered drawer organizers at Winners/HomeSense that are great for sorting the products inside.
- Pampered Chef Tool Turnabout – This thing is the most kick ass brush storage ever. It is divided into sections and tiered for optimum organization. Love it!
- e.l.f. Studio Large Brush Holder – This would make great brush storage as well but I actually use it to store my eyeliners and mascaras.
- Recollections Craft Storage 3 Drawer Organizer – I bought two of these on sale at Michaels and thought they were going to be the best thing ever for storing smaller makeup items like eye primer, shadow pencils, gel liners etc. While the size of the very shallow drawers is amazing the drawers actually just sit on top of each other. They don’t have any sort of system for sliding so they just drag on each other and are very difficult to open. I only ended up setting up one unit. Maybe I should grease the top of the draws and see if they slide better.
