This week the Makeup Wars members are sharing our do it yourself beauty tips. When it comes to DIY beauty I like to keep it simple. I don’t make any complicated concoctions. I like to use natural ingredients that work well as beauty treatments.

One of the best and multitasking beauty treatments out there is oils. Whether it’s a luxury store bought blend of high end oils or your basic olive or coconut oil from your kitchen, oils are one of the best beauty treatments out there. As a makeup remover, facial moisturizer/treatment, or hair mask you can’t beat the all around versatility of a great oil. Olive oil makes an excellent makeup remover. One of my all time favourite hair treatments is an overnight or extended treatment with coconut oil.
Basic baking soda is a great all around basic in the bathroom. You can use it for brushing your teeth as well as an alternative to shampoo. Baking soda is pretty drying so you massage it into the roots of your hair to cleanse away built up natural oils and dirt but try to keep it away from the length and ends of your hair. The easiest way to do it is to have a mix of baking soda and water in a water bottle that you can spray onto your roots in the shower. You can follow with apple cider vinegar to restore the natural ph of your hair, moisturize your hair in place of conditioner, and add shine. Apple cider vinegar is also an excellent treatment if you are struggling with dandruff. My sister in law does this with her hair and it cured her dandruff and it looks, shiny, healthy, clean, and just plain fantastic. If it weren’t for all the products I am testing all the time I would love to go this natural route and see how it would impact my curls.
