I can’t remember the last time I was this excited by a foundation. I am so, so very impressed with the new Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation ($ US/$ CAD). This new formula replaces the old HD formula with advanced technology ready to have you looking flawless in 4K.
This formula is designed to have your skin looking completely natural under the harsh scrutiny of ultra-magnified resolution 4K technology devices. Does it live up to it’s claims? Absolutely yes! I am so particular about my foundations. I want them to look natural even when I am examining my makeup 1 inch away from the mirror. I know that no one interacts with each other on those close a terms but I hate looking like I am wearing foundation and those are the standards I have. With redness to cover yet freckles I don’t want covered too much, and dry patches that I don’t want accentuated, I’m a tough customer to please when it comes to foundations. The new Ultra HD has me rejoicing.
I have tested this foundation on some of the hottest, muggiest days we have experienced so far this summer and I could not believe how amazing my skin looked even after the longest of these days. Normally my skin would eat up some of the foundation looking patchy at the end of the day. Or the product would migrate into pores or around my face. With the Ultra HD my skin would take on more of a radiant dewy glow through the day (I actually have received compliments on it while I felt hot sweaty and gross) yet still look flawless. I am so IN LOVE. Those of you will oilier skin types may not enjoy the finish of this foundation but for normal to dry skin I highly recommend it. If you have oily skin I would love to hear your thoughts on the new formula.
I have been pairing the foundation with various MAKE UP FOR EVER Step 1 Equalizer primers. My favourites are the Hydrating Primer and the Radiant Primers in Blue and Pink. I apply it with a damp BeautyBlender and get perfect, and effortless, results every time. I love the naturally radiant finish of this foundation so I set it with a very minimal amount of HD Pressed Powder.
The pigments are coated in amino acid that are reflective helping to blur flaws and give translucent, invisible coverage. On of the reasons I am probably so much happier with the new formula is that it included hyaluronic spheres to hydrate and plump. I found the original formula to be a bit drying. Sericite, which is a fine grained mica, adds to the luminous effect of this foundation.
The Ultra HD liquid formulation, which offers light to medium coverage, is offered in an amazing 40 shades! This is almost double what the original HD offered. The new shade numbering system is easier to navigate and fear not, they still list the corresponding original HD formula shade where applicable to make finding your match easy. There is also going to be a new medium to full coverage Ultra HD Stick Foundation being released in September which will be available in 15 shades. I am testing it right now as well and will be sharing my review with you shortly!
I highly recommend trying out this foundation. Let me know your thoughts below when you do. I hope you fall in love as I have!
