MAKE UP FOR EVER released a new mascara this summer. Smoky Extravagant ($28 CAD) offers volume, length, curl, and precision in a single mascara. The, very large, brush offers a precision tip on one end and a large rounded base to provide extravagant volume.
The formula uses intensely black natural mineral pigments made of micronized Iron Oxide to fully coat the lash in rich black colour. There is a base of Wax Complex and Abyssinian Oil that allows the mascara to glide on easily and remain smudge proof. It removes easily at the end of the day. It is comforting to know the formula contains Panthenol Pro-vitamin B5 to nourish lashes.
I achieved great results from this mascara, as you can see. I found Smoky Extravagant to wear very well without smudging or flaking as long as I didn’t rub my eyes. The one day I was testing it I was experiencing allergies and rubbed my eyes a bit which resulted in my lashes clumping together and some pretty intense flaking and smudging. Obviously we shouldn’t be rubbing our eyes though so I can’t really fault it for that! The rather large conical brush is a little different to work with but it does perform well and I didn’t need to comb my lashes most days I tested the mascara.
